Shiva is a native Californian who has been traveling the state for the past eight years composing various images of this beautiful country, landmarks and people. Her focus on photography started at an early age and since she was a little girl she dreams of working for National Geographic. Her work began with landscapes and nightscapes before she moved into photographing people. Shiva has also been a photographer for a fire dancing team as well as various theatrical events. Now it has become a passionate love affair for creating images of a world as she sees through her eyes. Shiva aspires to capture the authentic face of every person that appears before her lense and is attempting to push the boundaries of artistic photography. These currently photography projects have been influenced by her experience as a model. Four years ago, Shiva, decided to appear in front of the camera to better understand the process of capturing people on film. She is currently featured on several websites and will be continuing to advance her exposure. Shiva felt that modeling was a drastic change for her in learning about herself, exchanging creative ideals and learning to just sit back wait and watch for the picture. Shiva has lately spent a great deal of time shooting. The photography material that she is working on producing right now will in the future turn into gallery releases, other websites and eventually she will be pursuing publishing a book inorder to share this beauty with others. Shiva has worked primarily with film for these past years and in the later half of 2003 expanded her talents to include digital imagery. All the images on her site have not been recropped or drastically altered in any way, except for minor adjustments to brightness/contrast levels. These pictures have been taken with her APS film Minolta Vectis S-1 camera, 35mm Minolta QTsi camera and her recently aquired Olympus E-10 digital camera. The artist believes not in what the tool is but how the instrument is put to use. "Any true artist can work with a stick in the ground. What we often forget is that in some way or another we are all artists creating something in this world." -Shiva This is her expression that many have come to admire. Her talents for stealing time both in front of and behind the camera. |
