Hello, we're the Steele Family. We, Bob and Pat, are the parents of four daughters and one son. Leslie and Lori joined our family through the miracle of birth. Kayla, 9 years old, and Micah, 10 years old, and Anna, 6, joined our family through the miracle of adoption - Kayla, in February 1997, from China; Micah, in July of 1999, from Thailand; and Anna in January 2001. And we are in the process of adding another daughter to our family. We expect Bob will travel very soon to bring Hana home. She will be 6 on May 19th.
On June 30, 2001, our daughter Lori was united in marriage to Jamie in a beautiful wedding ceremony. Lori was a radiant bride! Leslie attended her sister as maid of honor and also sang so beautifully at this special occasion. Kayla had the honor of being the flower girl and Micah was the ring bearer. Anna slept through the ceremony...dressed in a white dotted swiss dress that her older sisters wore as infants on their christening days. We have shared photos of this special day here .
On August 2, 2003, our daughter Leslie was joined in marriage to Mike in a lovely evening ceremony. Lori attended her sister as matron of honor, while Kayla, Anna, and Burgandy (Mike's daughter) were flower girls. Micah, once again, enjoyed his role as ring bearer.
Our CHINA adoption story is told here. After three daughters, it was our heart's desire to add a son to our family. Thus, in August of 1998 we started the paperchase to adopt an almost 3-year-old boy from Thailand through Adoption Advocates International. Click here to see our photo of MICAH and read about our Thai adoption.
Before we pre-identified Micah, however, we chose NOAH. "Noah" was born September 3, 1993, probably in northeastern Thailand. Our Thai adoption story wouldn't be complete if we didn't mention this precious little boy...for this is where our story began.
APRIL 2000: EXCITING NEWS! We began another journey on May 6, 2000...this time to Vietnam for the adoption of an infant girl. WE HOPE TO TRAVEL A COUPLE DAYS AFTER CHRISTMAS!!! This will allow us to be at home with our other four children and leave us with one precious gift remaining to unwrap...Anna, our tiny treasure! Please visit Anna's lighthouse page here.
I am thrilled to announce the homecoming of Anna Faith DaiThanh Steele on January 14, 2001. I traveled alone to Vietnam January 1...it was a wonderful experience that I wouldn't trade for the world. When time allows, I plan to write Our Journey of Faith to Vietnam.
We were in the very capable hands of Deidre Dudley in our journey to bring Anna home. She provided very personal service throughout the process and often went beyond the call of duty. Deidre has many years of experience in international adoption. In addition, she and her husband adopted children from China, Vietnam, and Korea...so she has first hand knowledge of international adoption. I highly recommend Deidre! There is a link to her email address below.

Micah, Anna, and Kayla
In March 1996 while in the very early stages of Kayla's adoption, we co-founded an adoption support group, Families with Children from Asia, which serves the southcentral Pennsylvania area. FCA started out as Families with Children from China (and still today, many of the families represented in this group have adopted children from China) However, in the fall of 1996, we felt a name change was deemed necessary to better reflect who we are. FCA now has children from Vietnam, Korea, and Thailand, as well as two children from Guatemala. Check out the FCA's website at: click here.
SOME PEOPLE ARE CALLED TO ADOPT, either domestically or internationally, TO ADD TO THEIR FAMILY. FOR THOSE WHO AREN'T, THERE ARE STILL MANY WAYS TO HELP ADOPTIVE FAMILIES. To learn more, click here.
