I am really glad that you made it to my breeds page. I love to talk about my breeds and share why I love them as much as I do. Above are the breeds I have and the colors I breed. Below is the history and a little bit about each breed and what I enjoy about them. I am putting together a link for each breed that will talk about how many indoor and outdoor cages I have for that breed and where they are located in my rabbitry. I will talk a bit about what I currently have in my herd and a little bit about their standard. It will be a while before these pages are up. It takes a while to make them and my time is short for the computer but I will try to get them up as soon as I can. Please take a look around and enjoy what I have so far.

!!What big ears you have!!

I have fallen in love with those big English Lop ears.this breed is a lovable breed. Though they can get hard to handle because of their size. Even though they have well furred feet, because of their weight, they will get sore hocks if they don't have something other than wire to sit on. I use many different things. The English Lop is the oldest domesticated breed of rabbit. The ears are much longer now than what they were when they were in the wild but they still were famous at that time for their ears. This breed is known as, "The King of the Fancy."  The English Lop history dates so far back that records were not kept yet on rabbits. Who started to breed this wonderful animal to be a domestic pet is only a guess. Unfortunately the English Lop tends to be the most abused breed. Buyerstake home a cute little baby tripping on her ears, not realizing that this baby will soon become a 9 to 11 pound rabbit. (Bucks being smaller and does being larger.) Without constant attention they will become wild. Soon this animal becomes neglected and thrown out. Even with their wonderful loving attitude and good temperament, it is difficult for most children to handle this breed. It takes a special kind of person to be able to raise the beautiful English Lop.

!! There's no fur like rex fur!!

I no longer have Mini Rex. For personal reasons I decided it would be best to sell out. I worked with them for three rewarding years. They did very well for me and will be missed. Its really sad that a whole breed can be spoiled by bad attitudes.

The Mini Rex has been a real treat for me to have in my rabbitry. Rex fur is the shortest and the most dense fur there is therefore, the softest there is. When touching Rex fur, you should be able to close your eyes and picture yourself putting your hand down in a flour barrel. Baby Rex fur isn't real soft compared to its adult fur. It takes about 5 or 6 months for the soft adult fur to come in. Because the Rex and Mini Rex breeds have the shortest fur that also means that they have extremely short fur on the bottom of their feet. They easily get sore hocks if they don't have something other than wire to sit on. I use anything I can get. Cardboard, cut up jeans, plastic tubs, the lids that go with the tubs, Etc.... With most breeds a cat brush works great for grooming. However, the cat brush does nothing more than scratch the back of a Mini Rex or Rex. What works very well for grooming is the "Slick and Smooth" brush. It is made for horses and can be found at Tractor Supply Stores. It looks like a black sponge but is hard. You will find that it is also great for touch ups on other breeds. The Mini Rex is a result of crossing the standard Rex and the Netherland Dwarf to make a smaller version of the Rex. It was accepted by the ARBA in 1988.

?? Is it a puppy or a bunny ??

The Holland Lop with T-spoon ears, fat round face and short stocky body can appear to be a puppy at first glance, especially when on a leash. They are lovable when raised with attention. Holland Lops make good pets and is a challenging breed on the show table. I have really enjoyed the Holland Lop, I love their "cutesy puppy" look and their floppy feet. The Holland Lop truly deserves its reputation as "The Hallmark of the Fancy". The Holland Lop came from the Netherlands. Mr. Adrian De Cock thought that the down fall of the French Lop was its size. So he decided to make a small French Lop. In 1949 he began to breed Netherland Dwarfs with French Lops. From this cross he added the English Lop in 1952, Then breeding in a Dwarf cross. He finally reached his goal and his submission of four rabbits under four pounds for application for a new breed. It was accepted immediately and the first of Mr. De Cocks Bunnies came to the United States in 1976. It was at first called the "Netherland Dwarf Lop" and still is in other countries. Here in the USA, it is the "Holland Lop."

Seal Jr. buck

"Just one handful"

The Netherland Dwarf is the smallest breed of rabbit there is and very challenging to show. They are popular because of their tiny size. This breed is refered to as "The Gem of the Fancy". Children find them easy to fit in their arms and is the reason why my son, Kaleb, raises them. They are cheap to feed at 1/4 a cup of feed a day. They are easier to clean up after and they don't take up much space at all. If any one is looking for a house pet, the Netherland Dwarf is perfect, but don't let their small size fool you into thinking they cant live outside as well. We have Netherlands that have been outside all year around and they do very well.

(I am still searching for the Netherland Dwarf history. If you know it, please share, thanks, Stef.)

~~Stripes, Stripes, Stripes~~

The Harlequin is very laid back in temperament. They are lovable and are always ready to cuddle. When looking at the front of a black magpie face that has a perfect split down the middle, it reminds me of Cruella DiVele with her hair color divided the way it is. The(blue eyed) chocolate and Lilac magpie are my favorites. The beautiful smoky bluegrey eyes are very eye catching to me.Chocolate and Lilac Magpies are what we specialize in. All of the Harlequins here are owned by Carousel Rabbitry and A & K Rabbitry together. We have a 3rd rabbitry that connect Carousel and A & K.

The Harlequin Chocolate Factory, link coming soon

This is "Leo The Lionhead" (LEFT) & "Lionel" (RIGHT), They are both baby single mane bucks that are F2 breedings making them hybreds. (My first Lionheads)

!!?? Do they Roar ??!!

This is a new breed as it has only been in the USA since the year 2000. This new breed came to America with a loud ROAR and is most certainly drawing lots of attention. The history on this breed is coming soon.

-----------

I have my 2 new baby Lionhead buns. My first one is Leo The Lionhead (Blue Tort) and moments later I was buying Lionel (Black). They are both bucks and are hybrids. In October I get more from TNT that will be full bred. Both of these guys are very out going and wanting to explore everything and I do mean everything with lots of energy and are both as cute and sweet as can be. I am getting a pair from TNT Rabbitry in October of 2002.

------

I have also gotten a black no mane doe. She is still a baby yet and is as sweet as can be. She is an F1. Her name is Kitty.
