To Whom it may concern,

I know someone who  found your bunny. At first it was hard for my friend to get your bunny to come to her. Mr. Bunny was so scared of anyone who he didn't know. He had learned quickly that no one was to be trusted. See, when my friend found him, some kids were throwing rocks at him. She spent all day trying to coax him closer. Even though everything in him told him not to trust, he did finally come to her. It was the hunger tearing at his poor deprived belly that finally forced him closer to the apple that she held in her hand. His white fur was no longer white but was now a light gray and was thinning with stress. My friend ran her hand down his back as he cringed just a bit. Her fingers rippled over every rib and the sores where some of the rocks had hit him and the bugs had bit him. She gently picked him up and held his tired body close. She brought him to me to look at with tears in her eyes. I loaned her a cage, dishes and other things that Mr. Bunny would need. I gave him some medicine that I keep stocked in my rabbitry and gave her the number of my vet as I told her that his feature looked grim. She took him home and cuddled him and cut out the knots in his fur. Instead of putting him in a cage, my friend held him all night through. She rocked him and let him know that everything was going to be okay. He did reach up and give her a bunny kiss once before falling fast asleep. The next mourning she lifted up her head and looked down at the fluff in her arms. He was still and quiet as she bent over and whispered in his ear "Sleep now and remember that I love you even though we only knew each other briefly. Play in the grass and bask in the sun, there will be no more pain for you Mr. Bunny."

I don't know if you meant for him to find a new home or to die quickly. He didn't find a new home fast enough to spare his life and he didn't die soon enough to spare him suffering. I don't know if you care or if you will ever see this letter but just incase, I thought I would let you know.

Any bunny rescued off of the street, living or not, is welcome to have his or her name posted here. E-mail me your found bunnies name at apel@alltel.net even if it was rescued by a shelter and you adopted him/her, title it bunny found. The release of any domestic animal is cruel and inhumane.

7. 15 rescued feral (living wild) buns who are now safe in a rabbit sanctuary and never have to worry about being killed  by predators, cars starvation, or disease (became 25 after the two adult females had their babies, they were pregnant at the time of rescue) It took a month to catch all the rabbits....there were only 3 adults at the time of rescue, all other buns were under 6 months of age.

14. Angel, Big REW and a broken black buck was abandoned at a pet smart from a lady who said she could no longer care for them because she was ill. All 3 buns were dirty and was sick. A lady took them home and cleaned them up. The 2 does were heavy with babies. Black broken buck found a home with a family. Big REW had her babies, all were sick and all died as well as Big REW. She had also gotten a few other buns sick at this lady's house, 2 of hers died. Angel and her babies were given to someone who was starting a bunny rescue and wanted to help. Angel's babies, Powder, Cloud, Cotton, Storm and Patch all were adopted into good homes. Angel on the other hand was too sick and died. Angel had also gotten other buns sick at the rescue. A lot of money saved all but 1 bun.
