Christmas at Home*

lots of candles, evergreens, lights, bows, stars, make your own winter wonderland in your house. This is one holiday where we are encouraged to "overdo" :)

When you trim your tree save the greens, tie with pretty bows, use as centerpieces, put smaller pieces in a large clear bowl with christmal ornaments and white lights. Oranges and apples, polished in a bowl, tie with a big red bow.

Make gingerbread cookies and hang in the windows with red ribbon.

Red throw pillows on your couch, tied with pretty bows to look like packages.Wrap some of the pictures on your walls, and decorate with bows and ribbons and hang back up...cute! Cut out paper snowflakes for your windows, paper chains for garlands,to drape over the windows and doorways. Put a small tabletop tree in your entryway, hallway, bedroom, anywhere you can fit them.

Silver and gold add lots of sparkle, put it everywhere you can! Place mirrors under groups of candles, with a couple ornaments scattered around base.
Eat by the light of the Christmas tree,or have a picnic dinner on the floor around it. Rent a bunch of classic Christmas movies for a family movie night, pop lots of popcorn, both for eating and for stringing on the tree.
Use flourist wire tostring cranberries and bend into circles and hearts, great decorations for the tree and the windows.Have fun, relax, and remember what the season is about, forget the commercialism and enjoy your family.

Candy Cane Vase
. Make a candy cane vase using an empty coffee can. Glue candy canes, curved side up, around the entire can. Tie a big bow around all, about 1/2 way down, put a small poinsettia plant or silk ones, inside :) Now put it on your table for a great centerpiece!
Candleholders
fill some big glasses with cranberries and nestle a white votive candle down in, so pretty :)

Winter Fun at Home*

Christmas Eve, have the whole family pile on the couch or Mom and Dads bed and read 'Twas The Night Before Christmas, by candlelight or tree light

Go for a ride on a nice night to look at all the Christmas decorations and lights.

Make snow angels as a family! Make some snowmen, decorate with hats and brooms and scarves, carrots for the nose, pebbles or coal for the eyes. Get creative! Then take a family photo with the snowmen. Go in and warm up with big mugs of cocoa.

Play board games, parcheesi, checkers, go-fish, LIFE, scrabble, any game you can play as a family, pop big bowls of popcorn, make pizza and make a night of it.

Sit on the porch and watch the snowfall.

How about a childrens tea party??

Serve hot cocoa, pretty little sandwiches, small cakes (make a cake in rectangular pan, cut into nice even squares, and frost, add a decoration to the top, each child gets their own cake :) these could also be split and filled with a layer of jam or lemon curd
Have the table set with pretty dishes, tablecloth, napkins, centerpiece, make it fancy, it adds to the fun of it all. You could even have a small craft to do, maybe even one of those lip balm kits or some other group project. Take a polaroid of each child as they arrive
