The '27' Club
In 1994, a young mans mother went on TV. Her face was streaked with tears as she fought off the media grouped outside her home. The media wanted to know about her son.
"I don't know!" she sobbed. "I told him not to go and join that stupid club! I told him!" she rushed off into her home as fast as she could.
Just a few days later, her son, Kurt Cobain, was found dead of a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was just 27 years old.
27 is a magic number in rock; Janis of an overdose at 27, Jimi Hendrix in the same manner and in the same year at the age of 27, and Jim Morrison of a heart attack the following year and the tender age of 27.
