ABOUT TOM BUTCHERTom Butcher was born on 29 June 1963 and grew up in Stamford, Lincolnshire. After completing his A-Levels, Tom studied drama at the Manchester Polytechnic Theatre School. His early theatre work included productions for the Edinburgh Festival and the Royal Exchange and Contact Theatre in Manchester. Tom’s first work in television was a guest role playing a police officer in Coronation Street. His most notable role was that of PC Steve Loxton in The Bill. Since leaving The Bill to pursue other acting opportunities, Tom’s television credits have included: Bugs, Heartbeat, The Mrs Bradley Mysteries, Peak Practice, Wing and a Prayer, Holby City, and Little Bird. He is currently appearing in BBC 1’s ‘Doctors’ as Dr Marc Eliot (October 2001.)
Tom was also part of a production company called ‘The Four Amigos’ comprising Bill co-stars Russell Boulter, Huw Higginson and Mark Wingett, which toured Australia from October 2000 to February 2001 with ‘Lone Star’, by American playwright James McLure, in which Tom played the role of Cletis.
