This is a really simple component to finish especially if, like me, you haven't got a milling machine. This component was above the capacity of my lathe and so I had to finish it by hand. This was done by careful filing of the top and bottom surfaces and by checking for flatness against the lathe bed or similar flat surface. Once both the bottom and top were flat I drilled through the 3 mounting holes using the drill press. Finally I drilled the 4 holes on the top face by clamping the box bed and sole plate (already drilled) together and drilling though both parts.
