Tim Ferguson hosted the pilot of Nine's new tonight show last Friday night, and a Guide correspondent was there to check it out.
The show, Girl Friday, is like any other talk/variety show, comprising two studio interviews, a comedian and two music acts.
What made Girl Friday different was that the audience was standing, there was free beer, and it was shot on cameras without tripods. And the segments were kooky too.
There was a segment about Humpy the on-heat dog, which consisted of a person in a dog suit rubbing himself up against people in the street, while another, called Oh My God, showed the party tricks people could do.
Even the two interviews had twists.
A chat with Santo Cilauro, seen recently as the weatherman on the satirical sensation Frontline, ended with him attempting a real weather report, while Tottie Goldsmith finished her interview by judging a fake orgasm contest.
Nine is deciding whether to add Girl Friday to its schedule. It was loud, tight and fun. It just might work.
