FRIDAY GIVEN THE FLICK
Herald Sun, 3rd September, 1997

Tim Ferguson's future with Nine appears under a cloud following the network's decision not to go ahead with his late night show Girl Friday. The decision has surprised many who felt the pilot was extremely funny and showed loads of potential.

Some insiders are also concerned that in saying no to the pilot, Nine is closing the door on a new face who was an investment in the future at a network that is seen to have aging stars.

Another pilot to get the thumbs down is Ten's much talked about Aussie version of Entertainment Tonight, featuring Mimi McPherson and Angela Bishop.

And there is still no word from Seven on the fate of the pilot made by Dr Harry Cooper.

As reported here some weeks ago, the original was sent back to be reworked. The whisper is that Seven execs like the revamped version, but no decision has been made.
