There could be some interesting body language - and wisecracks - when Tim Ferguson makes his first appearance tomorrow night on GNW, hosted by Paul McDermott.
Those in the know say doing the show together will be the longest period Ferguson and McDermott have spent in each each other's company since the Doug Anthony Allstars broke up four years ago.
However, in recent times, that probably has more to do with Ferguson's commitments to Channel 9, and that he lives in Melbourne while McDermott is Sydney-based.
Ferguson is in Sydney to play Frank 'n' Furter in the coming cabaret production of The New Rocky Horror Show, which opens on July 29.
No decision yet as to whether Good News Weekend will fill the gap until Roy & HG's British shows go to air in September. If not, then McDermott will be heading for Scotland and the Edinburgh Festival along with executive producer Ted Robinson, who confirmed that Britain's Channel 4 is interested in doing some comedy debates during the festival with McDermott leading one of the teams.
"We're looking at the last week in August," Robinson said. If the trip goes ahead, a compilation programme of the "best of" Good News Week will fill the spot on the Friday night they will be away.
