FOX 27'S TOWER FELL!!!!!! From the local news source, Fox 27 TV, a 1,600 ft.
tower, fell. Leaving over 50 homes near Fordland, MO without power. The tower fell
stright down. So it isn't as bad as it would seem. KDEB (Fox 27) and KTXR (101.3)
lost broadcast when the ice toppled the 30-year-old tower. KTXR & KDEB where
moved to KLOR 10's tower so they could get back on the air, but they are not as
strong as before. They are in the middle of getting the backup transmitter and tower
fixed up in the old backyard. KWFC 89.1's power was destroyed while KDEB and
KTXR re-routed the broadcasting cables to KOLR, which caused a lot of trouble. When KWFC got the power back (3 days later) the tower worked, but the transmitter did not. The recent storms they had put a lot of ice on the tower causing it to collapse under it's own will. There is one more problem down here also; KOLR's tower is 30 years old too. But that isn't what matters, if the tower is kept up properly, it will be fine. But, I warn you, watch out for falling ice from 2,000 feet!
