Neil in California 2. Later that week . . . "Neil, hunny! Would you come here and help me reach this?" Julia called from the kitchen. He appeared in a minute, and grabbed the jar of jam off the highest shelf. Right as he was bringing the jar down, he tickled her side, and she laughed. Neil put the jar on the counter, and spun her around to face him. Their lips met, and they kissed for only a second before she pulled back, laughing. "You want it again? We just made love an hour ago! Silly little . . ." she trailed off as he nibbled her ear lobe. "Yes, I want you again! I’ll never git enough of ye, woman!" Neil chuckled as she hit his behind. "Oh, you! How are we gonna eat if you won’t lemme make us somethin’?" she asked. "You know that you want it as much as me, luv." He pointed out. "Well, I’m hungry. I promise, right after lunch! I’m just really, really hungry!" "Ok, you win. But I’m holdin’ ye to yer word." Neil opened the jar, and Julia spread the contents on some bagels. She opened the freezer, and grabbed the chocolate chip ice cream. The two of them sat down at the kitchen table to eat their feast. They were finished in ten minutes, and cleaned up. As soon as that was done, Neil grabbed Julia’s hand, and he practically ran up the stairs, with her in tow. Julia was just coming down the stairs to get a glass of water, when the doorbell rang. "Oh, I wonder who that could be. . . ." She opened the door to see the Beatles, and the rest of their road crew plus the biggest luggage pile ever. "Hi. Lemme help y’all." She grabbed two guitar cases, and put them out of the way. "Um, pardon me miss, but who are you?" A proper British man in a suit asked. "Oh, I’m Julia. Neil’s upstairs." The travel weary men exchanged confused looks. Suddenly, Neil ran down the stairs. "Hey guys! How were the last tour dates?" He asked as he grabbed several suitcases. "Um, fine. Uh, Neil . . . . ." Ringo trailed off. "Hey, luv, could ya show the guys their rooms?" Neil asked. "Sure. Follow me, and ya get the grand tour!" Julia led them with their luggage upstairs, and assigned quarters. When her job was done, she stood in the hallway. Neil put down the last suitcase, and kissed her briefly. The rest of the men assembled in the hallway. "Hey, I’d like you all to meet Julia Camille. Julia, this is John, George, Ringo, Paul, Brian, Alf, and Mal." Neil recited as he pointed to each. "Nice to meet y’all. I’ve heard quite a bit about you!" She chuckled with Neil about some inside joke. "Anyway, I’d like to officially welcome y’all to Palm beach. I live just a half mile down the beachfront." "Well, excuse our exhaustion, but we’re all a jet lagged. Neil, a word." Brian and Neil remained in the hallway, while everyone else went into their rooms for a nap. Julia went downstairs, and flipped the television quietly on. "Neil, why is that woman here?" Brian asked. "I met her the other day- she’s my girlfriend." Neil explained. "Well, has she been staying here or at her house?" "Both." Neil said easily. "She won’t be a bother, will she?" "No-she’s real nice. I’m sure that everyone will love ‘er." "Well, if she goes potty, she doesn’t come back, understand?" Brian was tired, and especially moody. "She won’t. Go have a spot of kip." Brian went into his room, and closed the door. Neil exhaled. That went well, he thought. He went downstairs, and snuck up behind Julia. He covered her eyes. "Guess who?" he whispered. "Marilyn Monroe." He nuzzled her hair. "Nope, try again, luv." "Um, LBJ?" she guessed, with just a hint of laughter in her voice. "No, silly. Once more." "It wouldn’t be Neil, would it?" Julia guessed seriously. "You got it!" He uncovered her eyes, and hopped over the couch to sit beside her. "Hey, you! I’ve got something to say, ‘ere!" She was trying to kiss him. "Well, I haven’t gotten to say this yet, to here goes. I love you, Julia." She stopped, and looked at him. "You do?" she asked, breathless. "Yes, I do. Very much." Neil kissed her cheek. "Oh, babe. I love you too." Julia placed her hand on his cheek, and kissed his warm lips. Neil pushed her back to the pillows. He balanced himself over her, so that she wasn’t crushed by his weight. The make out session continued for at least fifteen minutes. "Hey, you two love birds! Don’t you ever feel the need to breathe?" John Lennon laughed. Neil stopped kissing Julia, and sat up. Paul, George and Ringo were chuckling merrily to themselves. "Cor. I thought that he was going fer ‘er bloody throat!" John said. "Bugger off, Lennon. Or I’ll cripple ye." Neil responded, trying hard not to bust out laughing. Julia sat up. "You British guys are kinda odd, huh?" she asked. "I’ll show you odd!" Neil said, and pinned her on the couch. She managed to free herself, and rolled off, under him. Julia was up in a flash. "You really showed me!" she laughed, and raced around the couch as he came after her. "You’ve got a hot-headed bird there. I’ll bet she’s a real moaner and scratcher, that ‘un." John commented. "You bet wrong- now pay up!" Julia responded. "Aye, she is a sharp one!" Ringo added. "No sharper than your head!" she laughed. "Hey, that was a bit harsh! Anyway, it’s me nose that’s sharp. Not me head!" Ringo defended. "I dunno 'bout that, luv!" George remarked. Paul was near hysterics by now. Even John was laughing so hard that his sides ached. "Caught ya!" Neil yelled as he grabbed her. "Yea, what’re you gonna do now, babe?" Julia asked. "I’m gonna make ye walk back to your apartment." Neil said. "You comin’, then?" she asked softly. Neil looked at the boys. "What are ye waitin’ fer? Go! We’ll cover fer ya!" John winked at them. Julia smiled, and she and Neil left. "That was fun. They’re real characters!" Julia laughed when they got to her place. "Aye. I’ve known them fer years. But all this tourin’ is over, so looks like we’ll mostly be in the studio, now." Neil said, reminiscing. "Will you miss it?" Julia asked. "I think so. These have been good times fer me. But I wanna have a family now. You know, settle down." He looked at her and saw a little cottage surrounded by a white picket fence. There were some children and a dog playing in the yard. He and Julia were on the porch in rocking chairs, quite a bit older. The vision faded back to reality. " . . . eat now or later?" Julia said. "I wanna make love to you now." Neil said huskily. He picked her up, and carried her to the bedroom.
