Я бегу-бегу-бегу-бегу-бегу-бегу-бегу-бегу-бегу-бегу,
Я бегу-бегу топчу, скользя по гаревой дорожке.
Мне есть нельзя и спать нельзя, и пить нельзя ни крошки.
Я сейчас гулять хочу у Гурьева Тимошки,
Ну, а я бегу-бегу, топчу по гаревой дорожке.

I run-run-run-run-run-run-run-run-run-run
I run-run, trudge, sliding along the mountain path.
I cannot eat and I cannot sleep, and cannot drink, not a bit.
I'd like to stroll along Gur'yev Street,
But I run, I trudge along the mountain path.

     А гвинеец Сэм Брук обошел меня на круг.
     А вчера все вокруг говорили:-Сэм - друг
     Сэм - наш гвинейский друг.

     But Sam Brook from Guinea passed me on the turn.
     But yesterday everyone said: Sam's a friend
     Sam is our Guinean friend.

Друг-гвинеец так и прет, все больше отставание,
Но я надеюсь, что придет второе мне дыхание.
Третье за ним ищу, четвертое дыханье.
Ну, я на пятом сокращу с гвинейцем расстоянье.

Guinean friend so or not, I'm falling farther behind,
But I hope I'll get my second wind.
After that my third and fourth winds.
So, with my fifth wind I'll shorten the Guinean distance.

     Тоже мне, хороший друг.- Обошел меня на круг.
     А вчера все вокруг говорили: - Сэм - друг,
     Сэм - наш гвинейский друг.

     He's a good friend to me too. He passed me on the turn.
     But yesterday everyone said: Sam's a friend
     Sam is our Guinean friend.

Гвоздь программы - марафон, а градусов - все тридцать.
Но к жаре привыкший он, вот он и мастерится.
Посмотрел бы на него, когда бы минус тридцать.
А теперь достань его. - Осталось материться.

The heart of the program is the marathon, but the temperature is thirty degrees.
But he's used to the heat, he's made for it.
He looks like it was minus thirty.
But to reach him now.  - I only have the strength left to curse.

     Тоже мне хороший друг.- Обошел меня на круг.
     Нужен мне такой друг, - Сэм - друг
     Сэм - наш гвинейский Брут.

     He's a good friend to me too. He passed me on the turn.
     I need a friend like that, Sam the friend
