The Intro:Yes again it is that time of the year! Choco and I have made yet another hockey wager...Odds are I'm going to win one of these things! We have each picked the winner in every game to be played during the 2002-2003 Regular Season, all 1,230 of them. This year's season runs from October 9 through April 6.
The Results:The results you see in the table below are quite simple. Our records are listed W-L-T; games we pick correct are considered a Win (W); ones we pick wrong are a Loss (L); and games that end in a tie are neither (T). Win% is, of course, our Winning Percentage. Our monthly records are listed, as well as the Total to Date at the bottom of the table.
The Stakes:Now the fun part! As you may know, Choco has already won a pair of my shorts in one wager and my Angels T-Shirt in another. This time I am wagering one of my best towels as Choco wanted. (Click image for larger view.)
And again, I am after Choco's Thong! (Click image for larger view.)
The Data:Just a few notes...for the 1,230 games we agree on the same winner this time in 740 games, or 60.1%; we disagree on 490, or 39.9%--these are the ones Choco says I am wrong on. Results through games of...

Here are some facts about the 2002-03 NHL season:
The 1,230 games are played in a period of 180 days; that is 6.83 games per day. But 6 days in that time frame have no games scheduled: Tuesday, December 24 and Wednesday, December 25, the Christmas break; and Friday, January 31, Saturday, February 1, Sunday, February 2, and Monday, February 3, for the All-Star Break. The All-Star Game is February 2 in Miami. Discounting these days, there are 7.03 games per day.
Opening night is Wednesday, October 9; 6 teams open that night. 18 more start on October 10; and the final 6 open October 11. The last teams to open are Boston and Minnesota when they meet at 8:40 EST October 11. The season ends on Sunday, April 6; 20 teams play that day. 9 more teams wrap up their season the day before that, and the Anaheim Mighty Ducks finish "first" chronologically on Friday, April 4.
On no days do all 30 teams play, but on 3 occasions, 28 teams play. The closest to all teams playing is probably February 15 and 16, as 28 teams play on the 15th and the other 2, San Jose and Dallas, meet in the only game on the next day. 4 times during the season there are days when only one game is played.
While weekend day games are quite common, on 5 days there are weekday day games being played, all on US "holidays". Monday, November 11 is Veterans Day and there are 2 day games; Friday, November 29 is the Day After Thanksgiving and there are 4 day games; Wednesday, January 1, New Years, 3 day games; Monday, January 20, Martin Luther King Day, 3 day games; and Monday, February 17, Presidents Day, 2 day games.
