Crunky Slugs #1 (November 1992). 8 pages. 5 1/2" x 8 1/2". front cover: by DVM page 2: "Crunky Joe & Miz Crunk-o-mite" by DVM pages 3-4: "The Missing Piece" by Clark Dissmeyer (an altered version of a really lame Batman story in a 1984 comic book artists workbook. Clark turns ol' Bats into a weed-smokin' bisexual voyeur "with a great big nasty penis!") page 5: "Twentysomething Artysomething" by DVM (his version of the above story's first page. Now Bats wears a flowered cape and has a "WILL PAINT FOR FOOD" sign hanging around his neck.) page 6: "Herbie Pecker Makes a Boo-boo" by Gordon Nelson (a spoof of Harvey Pekar's autobiographical comics: "Oh man, it's been days since I've taken a good dump. I knew eating those bran flakes would pay off.") page 7: two "Dense Shoelaces" strips by DVM page 8: Untitled drawing by Fred Wheaton (a bearded man with a bleeding head injury says "I'm ignorant of history. I suppose that means I'm condemned to repeat it." In the foreground, fish hooks on wires pierce a presumably dead man's head.) Click here and here for some DVM comics from Crunky Slugs. Home |
