R & G History ... Continued

When we last left R & G, Ryan had left Wildwind in a huff after he & Gillian got into an argument after Gillian talked fondly about Jake & how she could never hurt him.  That night they were very close to making love but were stopped by the arrival of Joe Martin.   After Alex begged her to hold on to a dead "Guy"'s body until she got back from Bryn Wydd, Gillian called the only man she knew she could count on: Ryan! She had Ryan hide the body in the living room closet.  Ryan was preparing to leave the Hunting Lodge after doing the dirty work, unable to be so close to Gillian without touching her.  After Gillian shared a sad story about the day of her mother's funeral.  Needless to say, things got a little heated .....

Gillian went to get dressed for bed after Ryan volunteered to sleep on the couch.  She came back out & offered Ryan a pillow & blanket ... he accepted the pillow, staring intently at Gillian dressing in her nightgown.  She told him she was going to get some candles for room "ambiance" & he muttered "okay", not able to take his eyes off her.  She went on her way to get the candles & Ryan nearly followed her to her room but .. OMG ... his "alter ego" appeared in the fireplace (Flaming Ryan Head!) Flaming Ryan Head told Ryan not to go after Gillian because she was married to Jake & told Ryan that he had to stop running to Gillian every time she called for his help!

Gillian came out with candles in hand & Ryan, now shirtless, moved behind her as she lit the candles.  He told her she looked so beautiful with the candlelight dancing on her face.  It was clear by the looks on both of their faces that they were prepared to make love right there in the hunting lodge.  Ryan backed away at the last second, citing her marriage to Jake as the reason that he couldn't go any further.  Keep in mind that Gillian (at this point) still believed that Ryan had some what of a "thing" for Greenlee Smythe, & she wasn't about to give her marriage up for a man that had a thing for another woman!

Afterwards, after Ryan explained why he could go through with making love to her, Gillian stormed off to her room, just as upset at the situation as he was.  Little did they know that very very soon, their secret dreams of being as one again would come true sooner than they thought, because of a little mistake made by Greenlee Smythe!
