Notes from Nicole
It is with a heavy heart that I "retire" from the dog world.  I have spent over 10 years of my life dedicated to dogs, and now, the time has come to close the curtain for good.  As of August 27, 2002, Sudio Dachshunds will be no more.  I still will take e-mails regarding: Rescues, breeder referrals, home made treat baskets, obedience classes, handling classes and handling service, and I still will update my site about dogs for adoption and classes but I will not have any puppies or adult dogs available.  I am selling some of my stock, which you can view on my "for sale" page and I will continue to help in any way I can.  So, to all the people who I have met on this wonderful and long journey, I bid you a fond adieu, and hope that your lives are touched by our four legged friends.
General Note:
When selecting any dog, please choose one that will fit into your lifestyle.  A dog is for life, and having one that will not only fit into your life today, but 10 years from now is essential.  Do not choose for looks, color, and just because it's cute.  All puppies are cute, but the number of cute puppies that are put to sleep everyday in shelters are astronomical.  Also, please, please, please do not buy a puppy in a pet shop.  These puppies are Puppy Mill stock, and have been raised in an unhealthy enviroment.  The mothers of the puppies are kept in too small spaces (this goes for all the dogs), the dogs in Puppy Mills are often emaciated, having little or no food and water.  If you buy one of these puppies, it promotes this business.  These Puppy Mills must be stopped and shut down.  If you are bying a dog because you want a lifetime compainan, a pet store dog is NOT for you.  I have seen pet shop puppies die of many many illnesses, including Parvo, Distemper, and just being too unhealthy.  So, please stop before you pull out your charge card for those high pet shop prices.  I am sure a breeder of the breed you are looking for will sell you a healthy, loving, socialized puppy for less then a pet shop will.
