ANXIETY SUPPORT NEWSLETTER Topic this week: Helpful Techniques
The following are some techniques to help with anxiety and panic attacks:
Always breath into the abdomen. When stressed take deeper, slower breaths.
Carry a stone with you and when you begin to feel your anxiety rise you can rub the stone. Staying focused on rubbing the stone will keep your mind off of the anxiety. You could even say the word 'peace' each time you rub the stone.
If you have mantras or chants,that you say when you meditate, you can say them, slowly, when stressed or anxious.
Listen to relaxing music and hum/sing along with the music.
When you begin to feel anxious you can say to yourself (outloud or to yourself) "Oh no! Not this time. Today I am relaxed and refuse to give into negative thinking."
Do the relaxation/meditation techniques before you leave home. Pay close attention to make sure you are breathing correctly.
When you have a negative thought just say "Click. Click. Delete." Then think of something positive to replace that negative thought. Delete every negative thought.
Say affirmations over and over again. Say them many times a day as well.
Tell yourself "I refuse to allow my negative thinking to hold me back from the things I want to do."
Remember that what you think~~~you create. We are what we think.
Always remember that you are NOT alone. There are millions of people, just like you, who suffer from the same disorder you do.
Try to keep as much stress as you can out of your life.
Take some time out each day to just relax and say your affirmations.
Say to yourself "I am NOT going to believe those negative thoughts today. This is my life and I will enjoy it."
