My avatars name is SuezanneC Baskerville.  I have been an anarcho-capitalist libertarian since 1971.  In December of 2003 I joined a virtual environment "game" called Second Life, operated by the Linden Lab company headed by Philip Rosedale, formerly of Real Networks.  Second Life is a virtual environment similar to There, Active Worlds or Cybertown but more advanced and more fun.  I think many libertarians would find it to be an extremely interesting "place" to spend time and that it might be an effective communications tool for libertarians and well as just plain technological fun.  I would like to see a thriving and very large group of libertarians of all stripes there and see libertarianism become  a well thought of  political philosophy in the minds of the members of Second Life virtual reality.

There are many ways to enjoy one's computer skills in Second Life. You can use a built in object creation system to construct 3D objects.  You can make the objects and your avatar do things using a programming language called Linden Scripting Language, which is a sort of stripped down c/java variant.  Using remote procedure calls you can enable your scripts to interact with the world outside of Second Life, or Real Life or First Life as it is known in SL parlance.  You can create custom clothing and other textures using programs such as Photoshop or Paintshop Pro.  You can create custom animations for your avatar using animation modeling programs such as Poser.

You avatar can fly as well as walk run and jump. If you aren't content with the built in flying speed you can create or puchase  a script that will enable you to fly higher and faster.  You can build elaborate buildings that emulate realistic buildings in real space or create fanciful constructions that defy the laws of physics and are better suited to a flying species like our avatars are.  You can also create objects from pure mathematics programs,  using the scripting language to make your own 3D turtle graphics system.

There is avatar sex made possible by the custom animations.

Those who are fans of Ayn Rand could use the landscape configuration and building tools to make their own version of Gaults Gulch.

Streaming  videos can be applied to object surfaces, enabling libertarians from around the world to gather and watch libertarian videos such as "The Fountainhead" together. .

Streaming audio can be playing on one's land, enabling one to play their tapes of Ayn Rand lectures or any ordinary internet radio channel
