I have recently switched my gliders over to a new diet that is proving itself to be working well with my gliders. They are now at much better weights and appear to be more active. The diet they are on is called Darcy's Diet. It consists of fruits, vegetables, insects, and the meal replacer, Ensure.
This diet can be viewed by clicking on the following link:

Darcy's Diet

Not every diet suits every sugar glider and owner, that is why there are so many out there. Yet when choosing a diet it is important to remember that a sugar glider needs about  50/50 fruits & veggies vs protein, a 2:1 calcium to phosphorous ratio, and always use vitmains designed for mammals... not reptiles.

Protein seems to be the aspect of the diet that many people forget or give too much of. An example of giving too much are the owners who provide their sugar gliders with only a mixture of nuts and seeds. This generally results in an animal becomming extremely obese and unhealthy. They require the nutrients from the fruit they would normally eat as well.  Sugar gliders are insectivores, meaning they rely on insects as a main food source. Seeds and nuts can be given as treats, but not as a part of their staple diet. As a rule, use only animal protein such as:
  cooked chicken
  hard boiled  eggs
  meal worms
  crickets
  cooked turkey
  wax worms
  butter worms

Not enough protein is also very unhealthy for your pet sugar glider. Protein is needed by the body to carry out many functions, such as give your pet a healthy coat of fur and healthy blood cells.
