Although Gliders are fairly easy to look after, and they are pretty hardy animals, they are open to some diseases if not cared for properly. So be sure to keep your glider on a balanced diet and give them lots of mental stimulation t help them live those wonderful long 15 years.

-Hind Leg Paralysis-
This is caused from a calcium and Vitamin E deficiency in their diet. If you notice your glider dragging it's back legs, TAKE IT TO A VET RIGHT AWAY!! One way to prevent this is to feed your glider fruits that have a good calcium supply (like pears). You can also feed them small amounts of low fat yogurt in varieties of flavours, or just sprinkle the calcium powder for reptiles on their food.... hence the word SPRINKLE.... not too much or it can cause bladder problems.

-Stress-
Gliders can get stressed out pretty easily when moving to their new home, that is why I get the owner used to their baby before they bring it home. One sign of this is that your glider might be loosing it's hair. To avoid this make sure you place their cage in a room that isn't noisey, and isn't in direct sunlight or is colder than 75 degrees. ALWAYS PROVIDE A NEST BOX FOR THEM TO SLEEP IN!!
