OK about the tagboard, be nice children! Don't abuse it or Gill's
going to rip your head off... or rape you... or both.
Also, I'm collecting money so that we can get our own domain and
more bandwidth and webspace. Any contributions would be appreciated.
Follow the examples of Dave, Tamer, and myself (we each took 25
cents out of our own pockets). So go ask your parents for a little
bit extra lunch money or go to your personal bank account or college
funds or you can even hold a bake sale, whatever you need to do.
With your help we can soon achieve our goal of 7 dollars. I think
that if we really focus all of our efforts to this cause we will
be able to raise the money. Thank you all. -B. Wong

This is going to be a long ass news update.
First off, I apologize for possibly downplaying what the girls
did at the Conference Meet last week, but I wasn’t there
and don’t know what went down.
That said… WE SLAYED THE FUCKING DRAGON!!! (sorry uh…
earmuffs)
I was talking to a few of you the day of and the night before
Conferences and I said I was really feeling it. I think as soon
as the first event, we were all feeling it. Somehow we knew we
were going to pull out a win. It came down to a bunch of “ifs”
and “what ifs” and “maybe’s”. I
mean look at that first 2 mile. If it weren’t for that one
Wantag kid (and it’s so much more sweeter that it was Wantag)
that got F’ed up, we would have lost by 2 points instead
of winning by 2 (By the way Tamer and Jay were 1st and 2nd = All
Conference). Nobody thought we could do it. I remember at the
end of the XC season, Tamer said something like there’s
no way in hell that we’re beating Westbury during the WT
season. And a lot of us, including our coach, were thinking the
same thing but just didn’t want to say it out loud. The
fact is that well… they’re uh … bla… fast.
Heh anyway it was the most exciting track event I’ve witnessed
in my 4 years and after days like this I remember why I run.
Man, it was awesome. It was a classic David & Goliath match-up.
The momentum kept on shifting b/w us and Westbury. They would
completely and utterly destroy us in a sprinting event, and right
after we would do the same to them in a distance event.
In the field events we were hurting until Corey won both HH and
HJ.
I think the best 2 races that I watched were Fuss’s 600
and Dave’s mile. Fuss and Westbury were neck and neck down
the final stretch and you can tell that they really had nothing
left. When they both leaned across the line and collapsed on top
of one another, everyone was wondering who won. Turns out that
Fuss must’ve beaten him out with his spiky hair and actually
came within .2 seconds of Drew Harrison, THE Drew Harrison.
Dave’s race had about the same “sick” factor.
With 2 laps to go, Dave was a distant 3rd, Truitt and another
kid neck and neck for 1st and 2nd. Then the other kid pulled away
and Dave began to kick it just as all of the distance guys on
the sidelines knew he would. The kid in front never saw it was
coming, with ¾ lap to go I remember seeing him look over
his shoulder. Still didn’t see it coming though. Dave pulled
up next to him on the 2nd to last straight-away and the 2 were
just about stride for stride for the last 80 meters. It was a
photo finish, but without a photo. So nobody really knows who
won, one official said Dave, another said the other kid. It should
have been Dave.
The way it worked out, we were ahead by a slim margin going into
the last 2 events, which happened to be sprinting events. So it
was guaranteed that Westbury would take 1st in both relays and
we needed to finish 2nd in both or else it'd be over for us (Oh
the suspense!). Well our 4x400m relay is solid and got the 2nd
place we needed. I hate giving props to freshman not named Jay
but I must say, Manny showed us that he has a pair. When Martini
was through wrecking the rest of the field, it was pretty much
over. And obviously the 4x200m got the 2nd place we needed or
else you wouldn’t be reading this. We were behind the first
2 legs and were one stride away from the zone from being DQ’ed
during Gannon’s reception. By the time Anderson got the
baton, it was all but over. At that moment, everyone went crazy
because we knew that we were …
CONFERENCE
CHAMPIONS.

Well we all had quite a bit of a scare. Martini slipped
on a patch of ice and then flipped twice in the air and landed
on concrete where his nose broke his fall. And then he got shot
in the leg. No but seriously, it was sort of scary because he
was hunched over and there was a growing pool of blood and nobody
knew what was going on. Fortunately he made it out alive; he’s
a survivor. Here are the after-effects: 1

Yesterday the girls ran their Conference race, I wasn’t there
but I’ll leave you with a recap from Akinom (Parental
Discretion Advised):
2/7: edited this out to keep this site semi-PG.

Slowly updating the members section... and the consensus
is in and Ms. Chock has to go. We will miss you. So instead of
pictures of hot girls, I'm going to put up a rather disturbing
picture of guys doing odd things to other guys. Enjoy! (who said
runners act gay?) -B.Wong

So... who ran today? I didn't.
(I don't want to hear it Martini!)
Anyway, seriously... if you guys really want your member profiles
updated, I sort of need the information that you want me to post
about yourselves, unless you want me to guess your interests and
what not. And believe me, I will if you like, that could be fun.
So here's my proposal, if you're serious about wanting a member
profile up and you're not just nagging me for the hell of it,
then why don't you like go on the forum, and post your 411, and
I'll update your profile. Girls, go take some pictures of yourselves
and hand em over and we'll start from there. Surprisingly, Rich
never got around to taking pictures of the girls; you'd think
he would have been on top of the opportunity to do so ;) -

1/9 was another Friday night
meet, and another waste of a Friday night. Well... not entirely,
because the team as a whole ran fairly well. Jay brought home
the gold in the 1000m... I think(?). And, I honestly wasn't watching
because it seemed like a lost cause after our team was more than
half a lap back, but the 4x400m relay made an amazing comeback
to take 1st in the 2nd heat thanks in part to Broome. He managed
to bust out a 57 quarter and beat out Uniondale by like .0000001
seconds. I heard good things about the girls' meet too, but wasn't
there to witness it for myself.
P.S : if anyone wants any other sections of this site updated,
like the members section for example... go do it your damn self.
Muahaha. - B. Wong

Right, so I guess I'll be updating for a little bit.
If anyone wants to help, maybe (dare I say it) a member of the
girls team (?)... anyway I don't plan to change anything around
except for updates; although my grammar should be a little bit
better.
So on 1/5 we had a "short" meet with lots of medal-winners and
2 new records. Congratulations to Lynbrook's new 4 X mile record
holders: Truitt, Dave, Tamer, and Gamrat. Dave also sh-moked Jon
and is the new 600m record holder. Check the results for more.
but not yet because I haven't updated that... - B.Wong
