To make a board.
I drew the shape onto one of the ply pieces, then I glued the two 305x1220 4mm plywood together which makes it easy to bend the ends and then clamp into shape. Once dried it will hold the shape it was clamped into. then using a jig saw i cut my shape, ply will splinter a little around the edges so you might need some putty.
Then i painted couple coats of flat black acrylic paint on top and bottom sanding inbetween each coat till i got a reasonable finish. For the main design i used a pray can that creates a webbing effect for the  top and bottom, it's an easy and effective design.
After that i gave the board 2 coats of epoxy resin  which gives it a gloss finish and strengthens the board.
Or if thats to much hasle you can use laminex for the top and bottom, but the bottom will wear through to the brown timber under the design mainly in the back foot area.
For the foot straps i used windsurfer straps and bolted them using counter sunk stainless bolts through the bottom of the board, after drilling the holes and countersinking them, paint the countersunk area and put a coat of resin over it for strength. if ya using laminex you can put the bolts through the board before applying the laminex base or you could build in snowboard s/steel inserts and bolt the straps down through the top, if a board is thick enough but would be heavy  you could just screw down into the timber.  theres a few different ways to go.
Make sure you get some sandboard wax, doctor dune's speed wax is good stuff, i tried my board without wax, was pretty slow down the dunes shown in the photos, with some speed wax it flew
