So, you want to go inside, eh?
Accessing Sunland is simple enough. Simply walk around to the back of the building on either end. There is a rip on the fence near the back of each corner of the fence on either side. The most common entrance is through the larger of these two rips on the (east) side that faces the new Child Care Building. This leads straight through the boiler room and into the first stairwell and the main hallway beyond it. The other entrance leads into the opposite side stairwell and loading area.
UPDATE (5/17/06): Aztec Environmental has started prep work on the main hospital building. Dumpsters and equipment is present out front and they cleaned up the front entrance of the building. Unfortunately, they have re-chained the front gate. However, as of this writing, the large double gates on the Blair Stone side are unchained and the two back exits are still open.
UPDATE (9/5/06): Work has been completed on the asbestos abatement and the plastic covering the windows has been removed. All entrances have been blocked by debris both inside and out. The only easily accessible entrance is through the main front doors which are wide open. There's a huge hole in the front fence which is easy to access and there's a small rip in the fence on the west end of the building easily accessible. They have cleaned the building well and the hallways and stairwells have been swept and cleared. Getting around is quite easy with the lack of debris. However, there's less cover with all the windows and trees having been removed. And with only one exit, the risk of being able to escape if you are caught is greatly reduced to nearly none. I got a few pictures and will post them when I get them developed. Hopefully they turned out well. Stay tuned.
UPDATE (9/16/06): The east side of the building is gone. Half the building from the central stairwell to the west end is still in tact. Part of the kitchen and front wing have been demolished and the roof of the frontal wing has collapsed. It is ill-advised to wander in the front wing, especially on the 4th floor (auditorium), where the roof is now laying. The main wing of the building up the point of demolition at the center is still sound and safe to trek in. The cafeteria and two of the furnaces are still in tact. Visit while you can, but be wary of the frontal wing! Just go in through the massive hole in the front fence and through either the wide-open door directly ahead or the huge hole in the wall of the secondary front wing. These are currently the only SAFE and unblocked entrances.
If you have reservations about going into Sunland for the first time, or if you've been inside before and found yourself a little too creeped out to explore as much as you wanted to, I will gladly meet anyone at Sunland to take on a complete tour of the Building. I live close by, actually. If interested, e-mail me at: buckywklugman@aol.com

Put "Sunland" or some other variation thereof into the subject line of your e-mail so I won't delete it with the junk mail. We'll talk and setup and time and exact place to meet. There is no charge for my services. I actually enjoy exploring old buildings, so why not introduce new people to it while I'm at it? The way things are going, Sunland may not be around much longer, anyway.

Also feel free to e-mail or IM me on the above listed aol screen name if you just want to get more info, pics or stories on Sunland from somone who has been there first-hand.

My offer for tours has currently been reinstated. Half the building still remains and it is still possible to get to the roof. When demolition begins again on 9/18/06 I will suspend my tour offer again. That means tours are only offered for Saturday 9/16/06 and Sunday 9/17/06. Get with me within that timeframe for a tour of what's left of the building. I have been inside it in it's current state and the main wing is still quite safe. Tours will be offered early 9/18/06 (early being 2-3 AM).
