"Angels Among Us" by Alabama
In Memory of Thomas
The Day the Iris Bloomed
For three years the iris sat there,
Never a bloom did appear
We watched in antisipation
Hoping this would be the year.
Again spring came with gentle rain
But no flower met our eyes
No bloom of any color,
Not any shape or size.
This Spring, The baby waiting for his time to be born
Heard the voice of Jesus and his Father up above
Whispered tones we could not hear,
Calling sweetly to him, calling him with love.
Thomas came, but left so quickly, we could not understand
Why he could not stay with us and had to leave so soon.
Sadness filled our hearts, but then, at home we found
Two bright white flowers left for us, Two Iris in full bloom.
A gift for us from Thomas, To tell us that he loved us
In words he could not say
And someday we will see him
But until that day
Each year we see the iris, no matter where we go,
We'll remember the gift of Thomas, tho he left our lives too soon .
But he waits for us with loved ones, ..and we hold him in our hearts
We feel his love embrace us..as it did the special day,
The Day The Iris Bloomed.
