About Sunny |
I was born on the southside of Chicago and into a huge Italian/American family. I fell in love with books at an early age and still remember the first time my dad took me to the library. My love of reading continued through school where I was encouraged by teachers to write. Living in the shadows of Comiskey Park, the Chicago Stadium and the International Amphitheater, it was only a matter of time before I became enthralled with baseball, hockey and wrestling and most of my short stories centered around the sports that I loved. "The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner," a poem, was my first published piece and I still have the huge anthology from the late 70's on my bookshelf. When I gave birth to my two daughters, however, writing took a backseat to being a Mommy. It wasn't until 2001 that I decided to return to writing. While watching pro- wrestling with my daughter, I noticed some of the best looking wrestlers I'd ever seen. That fateful day led me on the path to becoming a certified wrestling fanatic. I chanced upon a wrestling site called Red Sonia's House of Austin and began writing numerous fan fics as well as a weekly column. And then I decided I could write my own tales of fictitious wrestlers in love. Armed with encouragement from the fans of Red's site, I did just that. My luckiest break--discovering a writers' site called My Writer Buddy. There I met a group of wonderful and talented people. We formed a private critique group, called The Dabblers, and we've been together ever since. SHOUT OUT TO THE DABBLERS: Shannon! Kim! Bill! Dep! Scott! I love you guys. After placing second in a writing contest for pulp romance, the editor of "Romances With Attitude," Mr. Conrad Sucatre, asked if I'd be willing to turn the contest entry into a novella. I jumped at the chance and penned "New Age Outlaws" a quirky, kick-butt romance between a female bounty hunter and an Oklahoma police man. It became the magazine's biggest seller. I continued writing, and through the help of my friends, completed my first novel, "Squared Circle." You can read more about "Squared Circle," by clicking here. |
My Favorite Things: When I'm not writing romance, I'm reading it. My personal favorites? I thought you'd never ask! Rachel Gibson - "See Jane Score," a great hockey romance! Deirdre Martin - "Body Check" and "Fair Play" both terrific hockey romances. I love it! Janet Evanovich - All her Stephanie Plum mysteries are the absolute best. You can't go wrong with any, starting with "One For the Money" all the way to "To the Nines." J.A. Konrath - "Whiskey Sour" the first in a great mystery series. A must read!!! Pat White - "Got a Hold On You," a wrestling romance -- but of course Music: Oh, what I'd give for a night with Toby Keith. LOL I love all country music especially Martina McBride, Alan Jackson, George Straight, Kenny Chesney, Brooks & Dunn, and Jodee Messina |
