TODAY was a very, very sad day
TODAY a woman in a wheelchair needed her legs to carry her down the stairs but the building came down instead
TODAY a woman held a man's hand as they both went hurling toward the earth
TODAY a Fireman braved the terror and met his Maker
TODAY a Policeman kissed his daughter goodbye forever
TODAY was a very, very scary day
TODAY there are no longer 5 sides to the Pentagon
TODAY there were frantic last minute "I love you's" sent across digital phone lines
TODAY even the media could not keep their composure as they watched thousands die before their eyes
TODAY evil was thick in our world
TODAY the planes came to the ground to make room for the Angels
TODAY was an amazing day
TODAY above a field in Pennsylvania, a brave flight crew overcame the evil
TODAY the world united to brave the terror
TODAY a city that is known for its nonchalant attitude became immersed in caring for strangers
TODAY there is proof that America will never cease to exist
TODAY millions turned to God
TODAY in Manhattan, the good overcame the evil
Our Hope in Years To Be,
Look down upon this present
And see our need in Thee.
For in this day of unrest,
With danger all around,
We need Thy hand to lead us
To higher, safer ground.
We need Thy help and counsel
To make us more aware
That our safety and security
Lie solely in Thy care.
And as we fight for freedom
Make our way and purpose clear
And in our hours of danger
May we feel Thy Presence near.

Hear this fervent prayer
May the people of all nations
Be united in Thy care.
For earth's peace and man's salvation
Can come only by Thy grace
And not through bombs and missiles
And our quest for outer space.
For until all men recognize
That "The Battle is the Lord's"
And peace on earth cannot be won
With strategy and swords,
We will go on vainly fighting,
As we have in ages past.
Finding only empty victories
And a peace that cannot last.
But we've grown so rich and mighty
And so arrogantly strong,
We no longer ask in humbleness
"God, show us where we're wrong"
We have come to trust completely
In the power of man-made things,
Unmindful of God's mighty power
And that He Is "King of Kings"
We have turned our eyes away from Him
To go our selfish way,
And money, power and pleasure
Are the gods we serve today.
And the good green earth God gave us
To peacefully enjoy,
Through greed and fear and hatred
We are seeking to destroy.
Oh, Father, up in heaven,
Stir and wake our sleeping souls,
Renew our faith and lift us up
And give us higher goals.
And grant us heavenly guidance
As war threatens us again
For, more than guided missiles,
All the world needs guided men.
