Silently Screaming's Stabbing Westward Biographies

Marcus Eliopolus

Marcus is the lead guitarist.  He was born in Roundlake Beach, IL on 5/11/74.  Before being a rock star, he worked at NAPA auto parts in Chicago.  He was previously in a band called Stranger Things.  He joined the band in 1996, initially as a temporary replacement for Stuart Zechmann while the band finished their Wither, Blister, Burn + Peel tour.  Legend has it that after Stuart left, the band ran an ad and brought in guitarists from all around the country.  They wanted the best, and hadn't quite found it.  Then one day, Stabbing Westward was hanging in this coffeeshop, and a worker there convinced them to audition his friend Marcus.  He became an official member in November 1996, at the end of the tour.  He plays a Gibson Les Paul and is single.

Walter Flakus

Walter is one of the founding members of the band, with Chris.  He is 33 and married to Laura Flakus.  He was born on 9/20/66 began his musical career as a pianist, and his last band was Last Visible Band. He was a drummer during high school. In 1982, Walter met Christopher Hall the trumpet player at a summer band camp. They both went on to study at Western Illinois University, and Walter received his degree in broadcasting from there. For the next five years after he graduated, he was a radio broadcaster. He formed the band with Christopher in 1985 while they were still students there. Walter is also an Admiral in Star Trek (betcha didn't know that one, did ya?).  You don't believe me?  Click here.

Christopher Hall

The "frontman" of Stabbing Westward, Christopher Hall is often the first name that comes to mind when you hear the name of the band.  He formed the band with Walter in 1985 (see above).  He writes most of the lyrics to the songs, and sings largely about his ex-girlfriend Laura, with whom he had spent 9 years of his life.  At 33 he is single, but has been married once and currently has a girlfriend.  He had a cat, Purrmew, who died recently, and now he has a new kitty named Felix the Chicken Butt.  He describes himself as "Eeyore-ish", like the melancholy donkey from Winnie the Pooh.  In person, he seems very humorous, yet has a sad character to him.  This is not without good cause, however.

He was born Robert Christopher Hall on May 18, 1965 and grew up in Illinois, mostly in small towns. His musical career started with playing the trumpet at age four.  His parents divorced when he was young, and his step-dad mistreated him pretty badly.  I also understand that there was some sexual abuse in his history.  When he moved to a new town, a group of kids took him in and introduced him to gothic music and culture and he began to grow out his hair and wear more black.  When he was kicked out of his step-dad's house, he moved in with his dad, who immediately tried to get rid of his gothic influence.   In high school, he tried out for the school musical, but was told he couldn't sing.  Look who's laughing now...

He graduated high school in 1982, and I'm not sure what he did between then and the time that he formed the band with Walter.  Most likely, those were his years at Western Illinois U.  He was also in the bands Odd Man Out, Die Warzau, and
Last Visible Band.  When his relationship with Laura ended, he entered a pretty serious depression and began to write a lot of songs, which we all know and love from Ungod, Wither, Blister, Burn + Peel, and Darkest Days.  These days, he pretty much sticks with singing, but occasionally goes to guitar.  He used to play Ibanez Talman, but now plays a Gibson SG Standard.  He can also play the drums, trumpet, and bass.  Hell, he's a one man band!

Andy Kubiszewski

Put simply, Andy is the man.  He was born Andrew Kubiszewski (pronounced KOO-bih-shev-ski) on 9/30/61.  He received a Bachelor of Music Percussion degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music in 1993. He has studied percussion with Cleveland Orchestra Principal Percussionist, Richard Weiner and has studied tympani with Cleveland Orchestra Tympanist, Cloyd Duff.  He has recorded thousands of television and radio jingles, commercials, soundtracks, and film scores, for companies like McDonald's, Minolta, Sea World, ABC Television, National Geographic and many others.  Before Stabbing Westward, he was a member of  Exotic Birds, the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra, Prick, Nine Inch Nails, The The, and Crowded House. He is single, and "waiting for a supermodel". He wrote the lyrics to "What Do I Have to Do?" about his ex-girlfriend, and he is a large part of the reason that Stabbing Westward changed between Ungod and WBB+P.

Jim Sellers

I don't have much info on Jim just yet.  I know he's married to Deborah, and is about 33 years old.  He was born on February 25, 1965 (?). His last band was Cathedral Burns and he plays an Ernie Ball Musicman bass.  I'll add more info when I get it.
