Live

If only they didn't sell alcohol at Gigs I might be able to tell you about it. All I remember is getting shoutedf at for accidentally setting a friend on fire, must have been a good evening!

I'll remember and write it down soon tho.....Honest!

In the mean time here's a review from a long time Livingstone fan.....Michael, sorry I didn't put it on earlier!!

Livingstone Powerhaus 8/3/96

After hearing their first single (the double A-side Good Intentions/Gangsta) a visit to see them was always on the cards, no impossible to live without!
So accompanied by two mates, Nick and Rohan, we set out to find the Powerhaus (recently converted from a crap pub called the Kings Head or something). After arriving at the tube station and heading in completely the wrong direction a nice man in a cornershop pointed us in the other way. So we found it, sadly we were about an hour early. After much tom foolery and sad attempts to get in via the back door we entered, £5 I think it cost.
After a support slot from Tongue and much debate about albums of ‘95 Livingstone made their entrance. I think at this point Nick was actually trying to chat up the lead singer from the support band, Oh well, his loss.
I’m writing this two years after the event but thanks to a set list I will endeavour to review their live show that night. First up a song I hadn’t heard ‘Female Self’ lead guitars is about all I remember but swiftly into possibly my fave Livingstone track the all out Glam rock ‘Gangsta’ Which was bloody brilliant and kicked arse! Next two songs that were never released ‘Right Time’ and ‘say it again’ (a definite album opener in a straight down to business kind of way). After that what the set list called ‘When he’s away’ but which was later released as ‘So Tough’ (third single and re-issued) a song about being in a love triangle. With Vocals as sound live as recorded Andrew and his crew gave it their all to much Karaoke and head bobbing from the three of us (Nick having given up trying to pull celebrities).
After ‘saving the best’ the two singles ‘Call Around’ and ‘Good Intentions’ got the crowd really up for it especially with the Harmonica solo!?!?! in ‘Intentions’. Possibly the greatest pop tune ever? The next song ‘Bound’ being dead good. The last four songs were a B-sides medley ‘you know too much’, ‘flirt’ which was as good as the recording but with that extra bit of energy you only get live. ‘Anaesthesia’ followed with the Finale to end all finales; ‘Shake’ was so good my words will never do it justice so I’ll say buy 'Call Around' and dream!

So all in all a top fu**ing gig only slightly unnerved by the fact that the lead guitarist was always staring at us, I mean always! Well, are they any good live? I’ve seen them five times since then so you go figure!

OK apologies required; Livingstone played last night at the Bull and Gate in Kentish Town!
However due to previous commitments(Phantom of the Opera) I was unable to attend. Phantom by the way was beautifully produced, great singing but, truth be told, a bit dull. I missed our intrepid heroes for a particularly expensive nap. I promise that next time I will go and take pictures/interviews, promise!
Well, missed them again (better reason this time tho...... watching old Aeroplanes at Shuttleworth. they played the Hope and Anchor in Islington.
