Willie "Esco" Montanez

You might see some of the hottest entertainers wearing ESCO these days. Nas, Noreaga, Raekwon, Cuban Link, and Wyclef are just a few of the famous people who get reach for the ESCO when they really wanna get dipped.

Willie Montanez is the man behind the menswear line that bears his mothers maiden name (Escobar). Raised in Newark, NJ, the Puerto-Rican Montanez honed his designing skills at New York's Fashion Institute of Technology

While although ESCO is for everyone, Montanez hasn't left this community behind. The following is an excerpt from the ESCO Mission Statement (see press kit available on the ESCO web page).

"To address the Latino's need for a collection they can call their own and to create an innovative Latino based apparel line that can compete with the likes of Tommy Hillfiger, Guess, Polo Sport, Nautica and Mecca."

ESCO, the first all-Latino operated apparel company, deputed in the Spring of 1998, and is backed by FUBU's partner Alliance Worldwide. Their ad-campaigns have featured such notable personalities as Tito Puente, Chico DeBarge, Nas, Tony Touch, and DooWop.

Montanez told Urban's Jennifer Parris, "I look at what's next in urban fashion and I take it yet another step" With the financial backing in place, the designing skills on point, and Montanez's ear to the Latino market, we can be sure to expect great things from ESCO.
