1983

Doro leaves her band Snakebite to join a young Düsseldorf based heavy
metal band called Warlock. Joining Doro in Warlock are:

Rudy Graf (guitar)
Peter Szigetti (guitar)
Michael Eurich (drums)
Frank Rittel (bass)

The band spend much of the year playing live on the German club circut and
build a strong fan base. After doing a demo in late 1983 which feature the
following tracks: "Iron Lady", "Cry For A Rebel", "Burning The Witches" and
"Watch Out" (later to become "Sign Of Satan") the band are signed by the
independent label Mausoleum and begin to write songs for their debut album.
In November Warlock enter a Düsseldorf studio to record their debut album.
The recording of this album took only six days. Following the completion of
the record the band discover that they are unhappy with Axel Torboville's
production (so unhappy were they that they refused to credit him anywhere
on the album), so they called in two acquaintances Rainer Assmann & Henry
Staroste to remix the album with much better results.

1984

In early 1984 Warlock release their debut album called "Burning The Witches",
which feature the following tracks: "Sign Of Satan", "After The Bomb", "Dark Fade",
"Homicide Rocker", "Without You", "Metal Racer", "Burning The Witches",
"Hateful Guy" & "Holding Me". More problems occur as the band are unhappy
with the album cover artwork. In spite of this "Burning The Witches" is a very
powerful debut that is well recieved by critics and fans alike. Warlock spend
the remainder of the year touring Europe and continue to make a name for
themselves as a top live act. Warlock also find themselves at the top of many
magazine year end polls in such catagories as best band and best new band
as Doro recieves wide acclaim as one of the top singers in metal.

1985

Warlock are signed to the major label phonogram, and enter Country Lane
Studios in Munich, Germany with producers Henry Staroste & Rainer Assmann
to record their second album (and first for their new label) which they finish
recording in April. In May Warlock release their second album "Hellbound",
which feature the following tracks: "Hellbound", "All Night", "Earthshaker Rock",
"Wrathchild", "Down And Out", "Out Of Control", "Time To Die", "Shout It Out" &
"Catch My Heart". On June 14 Warlock appear live on the British TV show
ECT #10, and perform: "Hellbound", "Out Of Control" & "All Night". On June 15
Warlock play their first ever UK show at the Marquee in London. On August 19
Warlock appear on the German TV show Live Konzert from Munich and perform:
"Out Of Control", "All Night", "Hellbound", "Earthshaker Rock" & "Wrathchild".
In late 1985 Warlock part ways with original guitarist and founding member
Rudy Graf and replace him with ex-Stormwitch guitarist Niko Arvenitis. The
band release their first ever home video "Metal Racer" (or "Live From London"
as it was known in the U.S.), it is 60 minutes long and containes songs filmed
live at the Camden palace in London, England on the "Hellbound" tour. Warlock
also release a three song E.P. called "You Hurt My Soul", which contain the
following tracks "You Hurt My Soul", "Evil" & "Turn It On". In December Warlock
play a string of dates in Germany to break in their new guitarist as they prepare
to record their third album.

1986

Warlock begin work on their third album with Henry Staroste once again
producing. The recording of this album took place at two different studios:
Country Lane Studios in Munich & Hammerton A in Düsseldorf. Rainer Assmann
is once again engineering and well known metal producer Michael Wagener
handles the mixing. In August Warlock release their third album (and first
with new guitarist Niko) "True As Steel" to mixed reviews. It features the
following tracks: "Mr. Gold", "Fight For Rock", "Love In The Danger Zone",
"Speed Of Sound", "Midnite In China", "Vorwärts, All Right", "True As Steel",
"Lady In A Rock 'n' Roll Hell", "Love Song", "Igloo On The Moon (Reckless)",
& "T.O.L.". Warlock are invited to open the very prestigious 1986 Castle
Donington Monsters Of Rock show in England, making Doro the first female
to perform at the event (an honor she held until 1995 when White Zombie
performed with female bassist Sean Yseault), over 60,000 fans attended and
the bill also featured Def Leppard, Motorhead and Ozzy Osbourne. Despite
the less than enthusiastic response given to the "True As Steel" album the
band spend the remainder of 1986 reestablishing their reputation as a top
live band as they support such major acts as: W.A.S.P., Motorhead & Judas
Priest (a personal highlight for Doro as this was her favorite band and Rob
Halford was one of her biggest vocal influences). Warlock produce their first
video clip for MTV, for one of the albums standout tracks, the anthemic "Fight
For Rock". Despite minimal airplay rock fans around the world take notice as
the clip showcases the bands energetic live performance. Coming off the overall
disappointment of "True As Steel", Warlock once again make personnel
changes, this time parting company with founding members guitarist Peter
Szigetti & bass player Frank Rittel (two germans) and replacing them with two
Americans Tommy Bolan & Tommy Henriksen both from New York. Doro
moves to New York. Warlock change management going from Peter Zimmerman
to Alex Grob. Despite this rather turbulent period the revamped Warlock line
up begin writing songs for their fourth album with an eye towards breaking
into the American market. The new Warlock line-up looks like this: Doro (vocals),
Niko Arvanitis (Guitar), Michael Eurich (drums), Tommy Bolan (guitar) & Tommy
Henriksen (bass).

1987

Warlock enter Powerstation Studios in New York City with American producer
Joey Balin to begin recording their fourth album. In September Warlock release
what many people consider to be their best album "Triumph And Agony" which
feature the following tracks: "All We Are", "Three Minute Warning", "I Rule The
Ruins", "Kiss Of Death", "Make Time For Love", "East Meets West", "Touch
Of Evil", "Metal Tango", "Cold, Cold World" & "Fur Immer". Doro spends the
month of October promoting the album by doing various interviews with the
rock media in Europe and the U.S. Doro hosts the U.S. Headbangers Ball on
October 3 as the albums first video clip for "All We Are" recieves wide
Headbangers Ball airplay. Warlock finish out 1987 touring Europe as the
opening act for DIO.

1988

Warlock play their first North American gigs. Warlock embark on an extensive
U.S. tour as the support band for U.S. metal giants Megadeth, on many nights
of this tour they steal the show from the L.A. Thrash gods. Doro films another
video from the album for the song "Für Immer". Filmed in New Orleans in the
heart of Bayou country this stunning clip remains a visual masterpiece.
Warlock come off the road after a triumphant world tour only to make more
changes. This time parting ways with the last original member (other than
Doro of course) drummer Micheal Eurich and guitarist Niko Arvanitis and
replacing them with yet two more Americans guitarist Jon Devin from New
Jersey and ex-Rainbow drummer extrodinaire Bobby Rondinelli, as the once
again revamped line up begin to write songs for a new album, which would
eventually become the first Doro Pesch solo album. The line up at this point:
Doro (vocals), Jon Devin (guitar), Tommy Henriksen (bass), Bobby Rondinelli
(drums). Doro and band enter the studio at the end of the year to record a new
album with Joey Balin once again producing. These sessions take place at two
different studios: Kajem/Victory in Gladwyne, PA. & Right Track recording in
New York City. This was to have been the fifth Warlock album, however after
some legal hang ups concerning the Warlock name (the old manager had the
rights to the name and would not allow them to use it), the band decided to
continue on as DORO thereby making this the first Doro Pesch solo album and
marking the beginning of a new chapter in Doro's career.

1989

In February Doro release her first "official" solo album called "Force Majeure",
it features the following tracks: "A Whiter Shade Of Pale" (a remake of the
classic Procol Harem song), "Save My Soul", "World Gone Wild", "Mission
Of Mercy", "Angels With Dirty Faces", "Beyond The Trees", "Hard Times",
"Hellraiser", "I Am What I Am", "Cry Wolf", "Under The Gun", "River Of Tears" &
"Bis Aufs Blut". "Force Majeure" is another powerful effort that proves to be a
worthy successor to "Triumph And Agony". On April 30, Doro and band play
the Metal Hammer Festival in Dortmund, Germany as part of a bill that also
include: UDO, Queensryche & Ozzy Osbourne. Doro produce two video clips
for MTV for "Hard Times" and "A Whiter Shade Of Pale". Doro spend the rest
of the Spring & Summer touring the U.S. and Europe. They play some selected
dates on the East Coast with Jake E. Lee's Badlands, before coming off the
road to contemplate a new record.

1990

In May Doro release her second solo album simply titled "Doro", it was
recorded at Fortress Recorders in Hollywood, California and produced by
legendary fire breathing KISS bassist Gene Simmons. For this record Doro
opted to record with many different studio musicians rather than work within
the restraints of a band situation. Some of the musicians called in to add
their expertise were: ex-Black N' Blue guitarist (and Gene Simmons side-kick)
Tommy Thayer, House Of Lords guitarist Lanny Cordolla, ex-House Of
Lords/Quiet Riot bassist Chuck Wright & Silent Rage bassist E.J. Curse
among many others. Doro would later have this to say about working with the
KISS legend, "It was one of the best experiences i've ever had because i've
been a huge KISS fan forever and to work with Gene Simmons was an honor.
I learned so much from him." The full track listing for "Doro" is as follows:
"Unholy Love", "I Had Too Much To Dream", "Rock On", "Only You" (a remake
of a KISS song that originally appeared on the little known but very underated
"Music From The Elder" record.), "I'll Be Holding On", "Something Wicked
This Way Comes", "Rare Diamond", "Broken", "Alive" & "Mirage". Doro films
a video for the albums opening track "Unholy Love". Filmed on Earth day just
outside Yosemite Park (at the same location where Pink Floyd photographed
the inner sleeve of the classic "Wish You Were Here" LP). Utalizing the
beautiful scenery to it's fullest this breathtaking clip is a sight to behold. Doro
auditions new band members for her upcoming tour. Among the musicians
who are lucky enough to get the assignment are: ex-Cycle Sluts From
Hell & Deadly Blessing bass player Nick Douglas & ex-Hades drummer
Tommy Coombs as well as a guitarist & keyboardist (sorry guys I never did
get your names). Doro is interviewed on the U.S. Headbangers ball where the
clip for "Unholy Love" is in heavy rotation. Doro and band tour the U.S. and
Europe. In September Doro play the Concrete Foundations Forum in Los Angeles.
Doro films a video for the song "Rare Diamond". Doro finishes out 1990
by playing some dates in Germany opening for the Scorpions.

1991

In March a Doro/Warlock compilation album is released called "Rare Diamonds".
Featuring a collection of songs from Warlock to her previous solo efforts, the
full track listing is as follows: "All We Are", "Unholy Love", "Für Immer", "True
As Steel", "Beyond On The Trees", "East Meets West" (previously unreleased
live version), "Rare Diamond" (previously unreleased live version), "You
Hurt My Soul", "Hellbound", "Burning The Witches", "Out Of Control", "A Whiter
Shade Of Pale", "Without You" & "Love Song". She also releases an accompying
home video in Europe called "Rare Diamonds - The Videos", it is a compilation
of video clips from 1986-1990. In August Doro release a new album called
"True At Heart". Recorded at Digital Recorders in Nashville, Tennessee with
mainstream rock producer Barry Beckett this ballads and blues heavy album
feature a collection of the most personal set of songs that Doro has ever
written. Once again Doro records with the help of a variety of studio musicians
from different musical backgrounds, such as: ex- Giant guitarist and well known
session man Dann Huff & bassist Leland Sklar who's played with everyone
from Phil Collins to James Taylor. The full track listing for "True At Heart" is
as follows: "Cool Love", "Gonna Break My Heart", "Even Angels Cry", "The
Fortuneteller", "Live It", "Fall For Me Again", "Heartshaped Tattoo", "With The
Wave Of Your Hand", "Hear Me", "I'll Make It On My Own", "Gettin' Nowhere
Without You" & "I Know You By Heart". Doro shoot a video clip for "Fall For
Me Again". Unfortunately "True At Heart" fails to secure a release outside of
Germany.

1992

Doro spends several months touring Germany with a new set of musicians
that include: Michael Shawn (guitar), Jeff Bruno (guitar/keyboards), Tony Mac
(drums) and the lone holdover from the previous tour Nick Douglas (bass).
Doro sings on a charity song by the German Rock Project called "Let Love
Conquer The World".

1993

In February Doro release a new album called "Angels Never Die". Recorded
at Ocean Studios in Ocean Gate, New Jersey with producer Jack Ponti, "Angels
Never Die" features a variety of styles ranging from straight ahead melodic
hard rock to beautiful ballads. For the recording sessions Doro once again
utilizes a variety of musicians that include: Widowmaker drummer Joe Franco,
bass player Mathew Nelson and brother guitar virtuosos Eric & Eugene Gales.
Nick Douglas also makes his recording debut with Doro. The full track listing
is as follows: "Eye On You", "Bad Blood", "Last Day Of My Life", "Born To
Bleed", "Cryin'", "You Ain't Lived (Till Your Loved To Death)", "So Alone
Together", "All I Want", "Enough For You", "Heaven With You", "Don't Go" &
"Alles Ist Gut". Unfortunately "Angels Never Die" does not get a U.S. release
(a shame really because it is her best album in years). Doro release a single
for "Bad Blood", it features the unreleased track "Children Of The Night", an
emotional ballad about runaways. Doro film a video for "Bad Blood".
Incorporating newsclips of racial atrocities throughout the decades that ties
in with the anti racism theme of the song, "Bad Blood" is a powerful, thought
provoking clip. It is voted best anti racism video at the Euro. MTV awards.
Doro also does commercials and public service announcements calling for
racial tolerance. Doro once again take to the road in Germany with a new set
of musicians which include: ex-Lita Ford guitarist Joe Taylor, ex- Blackeyed
Susan drummer Chris Branco (who is replaced early on in the tour by ex-Britny
Fox drummer Johnny Dee), guitarist/keyboardist Jimmy Di Lella and as always
Nick Douglas on bass. Doro play one show at the Marquee in London, England.
Doro release a single for the song "Last Day Of My Life", it features the
unreleased track "Rock Angel". Doro films a video for "Last Day Of My Life".
In November Doro release a live album simply titled "Doro Live". It is recorded
in Germany on the "Angels Never Die" tour and features 17 songs. The full track
listing is as follows: "I Rule The Ruins", "Hellbound", "Only You", "Bad Blood",
"So Alone Together", "Fall For Me Again", "Für Immer", "Metal Tango", "Let's
Rock Forever" (brand new song), "Eye On You", "All We Are", "Enough For
You", "I Am What I am", "Whenever I Think Of You" (brand new song),
"Children Of The Night", "Burning The Witches" & "Alles Ist Gut". A companion
home video is released with it that feature two additional songs "The
Fortuneteller" & "East Meets West". Neither the video nor the album are
released outside of Germany.

1994

Doro spend most of the year recording a new album. Doro takes a break in
the summer to play some selected outdoor festivals in Germany.

1995

In March Doro release arguably her finest album to date "Machine II Machine".
The track listing is as follows "Tie Me Up", "The Want", "Ceremony", "Machine
II Machine", "Are They Coming For Me", "Can't Stop Thinking About You",
"Don't Mistake It For Love", "Desperately", "Love Is A Thrill", "Light In The
Window", "Welcome To The Tribe", "Like Whiskey Straight", "In Freiheit Stirbt
Mein Herz", "Ceremony" (Rattlesnake Bite mix by Die Krupps) & "Tie Me Up"
(Hard & Fast mix). Once again recorded at Ocean studios in Ocean Gate, New
Jersey with producer Jack Ponti, "Machine II Machine" sees Doro's music
headed in a more industrial direction. Lyrically Doro also breaks new ground
as many of the songs deal with erotic themes, as Doro would later say about
the change in her lyrical approach, "I was so influenced by the groove and the
sound we had come up with for the record, and after listening to some of the
demos I just felt inspired to write more erotic lyrics. I had never taken this kind
of approach before, but I feel if you do it in a dignified and classy way it can be
very interesting and exciting". Some of the musicians who contribute their
services to the album include: ex-Cars guitarist Elliot Easton, ex-Bowie/Dirty
White Boy guitarist Earl Slick & the ever reliable bassist Nick Douglas (who
also co-wrote "Don't Mistake It For Love" on the album) among many others.
Once again the album does not get released outside of Germany. Doro does
a video for "Ceremony". An erotic video for an erotic song. Doro's ten year
contract with Polygram records expires. Frustrated by the labels failure to
make her albums available outside of Germany Doro negotiates with several
labels. After several months of negotiations Doro signs a deal with U.S. mega
label Warner Brothers. In October Doro release a new E.P. titled "Machine II
Machine Electric Club Mixes", it features various remixes of songs from the
"Machine II Machine" record plus one new song called "Emotional Suicide".
On October 9, Doro begins her "Machine II Machine" tour in Saarbrücken,
Germany. For this tour Doro's band consists of (as always) Nick Douglas
(bass) & Joe Taylor (guitar) with some new additions: guitarist/keyboardist
Russ Erwin & Love Spit Love drummer Frank Ferrer. On November 14 Doro
and crew wrap up a very successful month long German tour in München,
as Doro takes a well deserved break before starting work on her Warner
Brothers debut. Doro makes her acting debut on the German TV program
"Verbotene Liebe".A new compilation album is released titled "A Whiter
Shade Of Pale", it features a collection of songs from her first solo album.

This is not the end of the story, it is only the beginning.
