Hardly two weeks after the release of the long-awaited new Alphaville single"Dance With Me" Marian Gold, Bernhard Lloyd and Rick Echolette celebrated their great comeback to German singles charts.  One bright appearance at P.I.T. - and at Pit - and champagne-corks are popping again in the new Alpha-Center in Berlin.

But nobody knows that there was a large question mark over this comeback for a long time and that the trio had to overcome hard fights hard before the guys were able to get back on the track again.

The band's intellectual leader and singer Marian Gold (27) had to cope with the worst troubles. During the demo-session for the new LP he lost his voice because of a terrible inflammation of his vocal cords. When the physician strictly forbidded him to smoke, he - like many other people - replaced smoking with sweets.

The consequences were fatal for Marian: within two months his weight increased by 25 kg, because the cooking arts of his Italian wife Manuela were too seductive.

Having recorded "Dance With Me" in a New York's studio Marian realized that he urgently needed to go through fitness hell and to drop 25 kg within six weeks. The diet developed especially for him and two daily hours of jogging finally brought him back to his ideal weight of 73 kg.

A fan of Science fiction movies, Marian also invented a new outfit for Alphaville, in which he performed in the video for the first time. Long (reaching the soil), flabby coats in unobtrusive colours. In addition he painted oversized radial lashes around his right eye and acute-angled side whiskers up to the cheekbones.

By the way, the second Alphaville's LP "Afternoons in Utopia" is due to be mixed these days. The approximate release date: the middle or the end of May.
