Mr. Roger's story, as told by him:

I drummed in marching band as a kid. Wore all those goofy costumes and hats. Paraded around the streets and football fields. The first band ever played with was Express. A bunch of kids from high school doing covers. Playing H.S. dances and some local bar gigs on Long Island.

I played with a band called Shadow. I meet Richie Lure then. We went on to record an album that never got released. I meet Walter Lure through his brother Richie back then. I jammed a few times with Walter and did not hear from him until many years later. In the mean time I played with a 60's cover band called Johnny and the Moondogs. Some name the Beatles had once used or something. Anyway it fit. Lots of Stones, Beatles and 60's invasion stuff. The punk scene had just started to make noise and we would go see lots of bands at Max's and C.B.G.B.'s. The band started covering a few of songs from bands we liked. Richard Hell and the Voidoids. The Ramones. The Heartbreakers etc. Anyway, Richie had gone his way playing with Manhattan based bands, but would still come out and see The Moondogs. One night hanging out at C.B.G.B.'s, Richie introduced me to some guys from a band called The Senders. They were looking for a drummer. We got together shortly after and I started drumming for them.

I was now hanging out more and more in the Manhattan club scene. I ran into Walter a few times and he saw me playing with the Senders. One day I got a phone call from Walter asking me if I could drum for a Heartbreakers gig. That was the first time I meet Johnny Thunders. I drummed for those guys on and off. I drummed for Johnny with La Costra Nosta. I drummed for Johnny as his solo thing. I meet the Ramones through Walter Lure who would be hired to do solo's on there albums. I recorded some tracks for Subterranean Jungle. I could have been a Ramone except I had a heroin problem and the band had all cleaned up. This one still haunts me today and really hate that my drug addiction fucked up so many good gigs.

I married the bass player from an all girls band from Toronto, the B'Girls. She knew a lot of people. I auditioned for Billy Idol and did not get the gig. Her and I played in a few things together. Guys and Dolls, The Renegades and this rockabilly guy Chris Bond. I drummed for the Slugs. A band out on Whiplash records for awhile. Real Ramones type of stuff with a more pop edge to it. I drummed with Walter and Billy Rath in a band called The Hero's. We also did a rent money gig with guest guitarist like Frankie from Blondie. Steve from the Clash. Cheata from the dead boys. We called that the Ingonitos . Guys in other projects making cash under cover. It was suppose to be a secrete or something. I played for Rigina Richard and Red Hot. She got a deal with some disco song long after I had left. I drummed for Donna Destrei. The key board player from Blondie's sister. I think she went under Donna Destrei. Wow. I need to dig out the history books here. Oh. The Dragons. Great band. We opened for Tina Turner on the pier in NYC. She was great. The gig was great. The band just could never seem to get a break. Drugs got in the way of that one as well.

I think Canadian stuff would be next, although I am sure there were a few things here and there I forgot about. I did the Delta Kickers when I first came to Toronto. I got the Hanson Ned gig shortly after that. I was Ned's last drummer before he died. I played lots of pick up stuff. Steven Lekie I meet and did a few things with. Sex Tattoo Seven is one I remember. I went to Vancouver to drum for the Nervous Fellals. Came back here to try and get the Blue Rhodeo gig. Went back to Cover to do the Last Wild Sons. I play lots of drums out there. I was the house drummer for JR Country. A local C.W. joint. I really started to get my blues and country groves down. A real challenge compared to all the punk straight ahead rock stuff I played before. Did a Rockabilly Trio called Dog House Trio. I played guitar and fronted Teenage Kicks. Mostly my original songs and some covers. My back up band was the kids from Flash Bastard. They are still going. Great bunch of kids. They were just teenagers then. I had some hot chick dress up and they were called the Sexettes. My back up singers. Lots of fun. I drummed for Press Gang. The last thing I did in Van. Back here in TO. I meet the Speed Kings. Meet Paul and brought him on board. They broke up and we stated The Texas Dirt Fuckers.
