I grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and attended George Washington High School. Upon graduation I took a trip abroad to the northern area of Spain with a girl born in Bilbao, Spain. I then attended Creighton University where I studied both English literature and Spanish language and literature. I spent one semester studying Spanish in San Sebastian, Spain. After completing my B.A. and M.Ed., I taught for two years in West Point, Nebraska, then one year in Evansville, Wisconsin, and one year in Marshall, Wisconsin before starting here at Sacred Hearts.
