My Banana Palm

On May 6, 2000 I planted a Banana Palm into the ground in Victoria, it was about 1 metre high and 1 metre wide, the stalk was as thick as a baseball bat handle.  Here is what it looked like on August 30, 2000.  It is now nearly 2 metres high, and the stalk is twice the original size.

Another view, all new leaves have grown to nearly 1 metre each

A view from above the baby plant, which was only 10 - 12 cm high

There is only one leaf still burned, the rest are weathered, overall it has doubled in size and durablilty.  We live in a tropical climate.

The mother plant is now 10 - 12 cm across the stalk.
