Pity those who have to work
Inside on such as this
And cannot be outside to share
In mother nature's bliss.
Pity all the sick and weak
In hospitals around
Who do not get a chance to sit
Or lie upon the ground
And look into the bright blue sky
Without a cloud in sight
Or behold the children in the park
Running with their kites.
May there always be a sun to shine
In the lives of those we love
To keep the rain and tears away
And keep them warm with love!

Is He thinking that He sent His son to suffer His great pain
And if only we would follow Him, we'd have so much to gain?
Does He regret that sacrifice when He sees the way we live;
Ignoring all He stands for and never ready to forgive
Others who have harmed us or hurt us with a wrong?
God has tried to teach us that forgiveness makes us strong.
Many many years ago someone died upon a cross.
It was God's only begotten Son and His greatest loss.
As Jesus suffered on that cross, His words came plainly through,
"Father-forgive them, for they know not what they do."
When we see the hardened criminals who find delight in what they do
Pray and ask God to forgive them for they know not what they do.
Ask God to send the Holy Ghost to help them on their way
Somehow they have lost the path of rightousness, and strayed.
Remember no one in this world is perfect, not you or I
And we might need forgiveness too, sometime before we die.
So don't wait for the rain to fall to send your Lord a prayer
Is God in heaven crying because He might not see us there?
It was so different in those days
When we walked down the street
We'd smile and wish good morning
To everyone we'd meet.
We always knew the time would come
When we would settle down
And after traveling in the world
Move back to our hometown.
We never worried much back then
About important things
Everything would turn out well
And soon we'd live like kings.
We knew we'd find the perfect job
As soon as high school's through
But right this very minute
We have fun things to do.
Maybe go roller skating
Or swimming in the lake
Or have a picnic at the coast
Oh Gosh! What shall I take?
Let's pack some sandwiches today
And fish on Berry's Pond
I know I have homework to do
Promise I won't stay long.
We have our lives ahead of us
Our dreams will all come true
I never thought I might be wrong
Neither, I am sure, did you.
Life has a way of changing things
We can't turn back the clock
"If only" are the words we say
As we wander by the dock.
If only I had chosen
A different path in life
An airline hostess, maybe,
And not a loving wife.
How different my whole world would be
Would I be happy then?
Would I have friends throughout the world?
What really would have been?
But if a different life I chose
And a different road had taken
My children would have been a part
Of a life that I'd forsaken.
And as I watch my grandchildren
And my great grandchildren too
I realize how lonely, life
Would really be without you.
So if I had a chance one day
To lead another quest
I'd say, "No thanks. I am content.
My life is truly blessed.

and dedicated to my children,
grandchildren and great grandchildren.
I looked up in the pine tree
And saw a robin fly
A piece of yarn hanging from her beak
Building a nest on the sly
High above the treetops
On the cable which is there
Two little squirrels were playing tag
Without a single care
I saw one yellow crocus blooming
Just outside the door
And know in just a few more days
There will be many more
And with the spring returning
As it does every year
So does it give new hope to us
And all God's creatures here.
A hope for warmth and sunshine
And days filled full of love
Sweet blessings from our Savior
Watching o're us from above.

You've roamed the streets forever
Hopelessness and despair
Have become steadfast companions
Your dreams beyond repair
In the dirty backstreet alleys
With filth and horror 'round
In loneliness, and desolate
Screams and sirens sound
Oh how I wish some miracle
Could touch all of your lives
And give you hope and comfort
And free you from that strife.
I know that every waking day
You fear what is in store
And guns and knives you carry
Are to protect you more
I wish that God would help you
And send the Holy Ghost
To touch each of your hearts at once
Free you from Satan's host.
I cannot but imagine
When you were two or three
You had your precious innocense
Your smiles were there to see
But when you realized your fate
Your soul was drawn from you
A vacant stare-you aren't so tough
You gave up-halfway through.

He looked at me with big, sad eyes
Then turned and looked around
And then he searched the trashcan
Filled with litter from the ground
I saw him find a crust of bread
Someone had thrown away
And he hurried to the alley
Where a little toddler lay
It was a girl all dressed in rags
He handed her the bread
And without a word, she ate it
And lay back on her bed
Which was a concrete sidewalk
Covered with a pile of rags
It was their home, I realized
As I saw a couple of bags
These bags held their belongings
All of their treasures dear
And tears filled my eyes that day
As I realized why I was here.
I asked the child where was his mom
And did he have a dad
He looked at me with trusting eyes
So filled with pain - and sad!
"My daddy left," was what he said,
He was heading for Alaska.
Where he is I do not know."
"Mommy has been working
Pouring cement to make concrete
She got laid off, the rent was due,
So we were turned out on the street."
"She went job hunting days ago
And we were left alone
She never came back to see us
And we do not have a home."
I gathered up the little girl
And held her in my arms
I told the little boy, "Let's go.
I'll keep you safe from harm."
For we are all God's family
Now I realize God's plan
The reason we are on this earth
Is to help our fellowman!

Did they make a fortune
In the stock market last spring?
Do they have a mansion
And do they live like kings?
Or are they wandering about
Homeless on the streets?
Would I recognize them
If perchance we'd meet?
I wonder what became of them,
Each had such dreams, you see.
I know Marge joined the Air Force
And became an airman like me.
Nancy went to college
And later to New York.
She became a social worker
And worked around the clock.
Ann became a mommy
And stayed right close to home
She plays the organ at the church
And doesn't want to roam.
I heard that Clara Jackson
Who was a friend to most
(She worked for Dr. Barron)
Has moved to the west coast.
John Shane was the smartest;
A success he was bound to be.
I hear he's a professor
In a Boston university.
Terry owns the funeral home,
To no one's big surprise.
It was his dad's before him,
And his grandpa's before he died.
I heard Irene Kaherl has died
Of cancer, it was told;
And also Raymond Irving.
God has received their souls.
I don't know about the others.
I've lost track over the years;
But I hope that their lives have been
Filled with happiness and cheer.
Each has gone his own way
On the path of life, you see.
I wonder if they wonder
What has become of me?

Do you ever notice as you pass this way
There are tulips blooming, brightening the day?
If you chance to look up at the sky tonight,
You would see a million stars twinkling - What a sight!
There are so many miracles on this earth of ours.
We do not take the time to even stop and smell the flowers.
If one day they disappeared and were absent from our view,
These things we take for granted - what would we do?
Would we realize then how much they meant to us
Or would we just go on with life and never make a fuss?
I think life would be so bleak with no flowers or stars
Or all the other miracles God's given from afar.
So next time on your way to work, please stop and smell the roses
Enjoy the beauty of them before the blossom closes;
And while walking home that evening with the stars all shining bright
Please take the time to thank the Lord for the beauty of the night!

Looking out over the bustling crowd
As the ponies travel around
Seeing the sights from every view
As your happy laughter sounds?
Have you ever been on a ferris wheel
As it travels up into the sky
Holding you up at the top of the world
As a million stars flash by?
You look out over the carnival
With the bright glowing lights all about
You see a dreamland in a fantasyworld.
You're in heaven, without a doubt!
Have you ever swung in those circular swings
That begin with a jerk at the start
And soon you are swinging way up in the air
Sailing well over the park?
It seems you are flying each time you go round -
Higher and higher it goes
'Til finally after you've reached a great height -
Lower and lower it slows!
If you've ever tasted the sweet cotton candy
And been to the fantasyland
Of the hometown carnival that comes every summer
To take you by the hand
And lead you into a world of enchantment
Where mem'ries are gathered and held in your mind
Then when you grow older and sit in your rocker,
These precious sweet mem'ries you'll find.
And as you close your eyes, you will see it again -
The carnival down at the park
All the excitement and all the bright lights
Bringing that glow through the dark!

"Oh, Mommy, Dear Mommy," he would say,
Showing that grin of his.
"I want to marry you someday"
Then he'd give me a hug and a kiss.
Come smile with me as we talk of the past,
Of a pretty little miss
With black patent-leather shoes on her feet;
Wearing a pretty blue-chiffon dress.
Dancing and singing her little songs
As she played dress-up and carried her purse,
Looking at me with such love in her eyes,
I thought my heart surely would burst.
Come wander with me and my dear memories
Back to those long-ago years
When we rushed through each day as the time ticked away
Trying to hurry to ---here.
Now we are here in the twilight of time
Wishing that time had stood still
But the bright, sunny morning of life has gone by.
It vanished as we climbed the hill.
And as the sun of our life is setting
And shadows now cover the sky
We wander the past through our memories
And we regret that time really does fly.

I want to tell them before I go
A few words to remember.
So listen to me, Dear Children
For soon it may be December.
Enjoy each moment that passes by
And don't waste a single minute
'Cause time has a way of rushing by
So reach high for your ribbon and win it!
Make each day count and treasure each friend
You find along the way
'Cause the journey is long and the travelin' is hard
So from the path , don't stray.
Don't get lost by the side of the road
Or wander off into the hills
Please keep to the straight and narrow path
And all your dreams fulfill.
Then years from now as you sit in the shade
Of the life of yesterday
You can come and meet me halfway home
And we'll share eternity!
