MARY ANNE HOBBS DJ SETS
1997
On Monday 17th February 1997 the first Breezeblock was broadcast; a huge blast of beats with all sorts of guest mixers not governed by genre or era.

The first programmes were broadcast on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday nights, midnight-1am. At this point
The Breezeblock was the final hour of a two & a half hour show hosted by Mary Anne. The early shows were without mixes, but did have live recordings from Maida Vale. It was not until a few months later mixes began. By October 1997 the show was officially listed in the BBC Radio 1 schedules for the first time.

From Monday 27th July 1998 the show was extended to two hours on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday nights only, midnight-2am.
Andy Kershaw replaced the Thursday night show.

From Monday 12th October 1998 the show was cut back to Monday & Tuesday nights only, midnight-2am.
Gilles Peterson's Worldwide replaced the Wednesday night show.

From Monday 20th September 1999
The Breezeblock was extended to four hours on Monday night only, midnight-4am. During this period there were usually two mixes; a 60 minute Headline Set & a 30 minute Showcase Set. The Tuesday night show was replaced with The Rock Show hosted by Mary Anne, from which she subsequently departed.

From Monday 5th November 2001 the show was reduced to two hours, midnight-2am, with just one mix, usually either 45 minutes or 30 minutes.

From Tuesday 27th July 2004 the time slot moved from midnight-2am to 1am-3am Tuesday morning.

From Friday 29th September 2006 the title of the show changed to
Mary Anne Hobbs: BBC Radio 1 Experimental Show & the time slot moved from Tuesday morning 1am-3am to Friday morning 2am-4am.

From Wednesday 17th October 2007 the time slot moved from Friday morning 2am-4am to Wednesday morning 2am-4am.

Setlists have been published both on the
BBC Radio 1 website and Ceefax, BBC 1 p658 (now curtailed), since the programme started. However, BBC Radio 1 archived setlists did not begin until 19th June 2000. Breezeblock Bomb archived setlists began 1st May 2000.
