Cloak and Dagger
A tribute to the swinging superspies of the sixties and beyond.
When the James Bond phenomenon exploded into the public consciousness in the early sixties, it soon spawned a slew of secret agent imitators, all with fast cars, faster women, and eccentric but deadly villains. According to movie critics, some of these films were better than others. However, so compelling is this genre, even the ones that were not so good are actually very entertaining.
These are the films that so fascinated Mike Myers that they inspired the creation of "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery". However, in spite of Myers' success, these films remain largely forgotten, cultural artifacts of a bygone decade. On the other hand, the James Bond films, repeated countless times on network TV, suffer from overexposure. So those with a taste for a good spy flick, but who are unfamiliar with these lost gems, are encouraged to rediscover that which the passage of time has made fresh once again.
