WHAT IF YOU DON'T GO
AUTHORS NOTE- THIS STORY IS MY VERSION OF WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED IF JASON HAD NEVER LEFT PORT CHARLES.
Elizabeth sat down on the bench overlooking the Port Charles waterfront. She sat there thinking about her life. Even though, she missed Lucky terribly, she was having a great time with Jason. They had become great friends while he was staying at her studio recovering from gunshot wounds. They understood each other and knew just what to do or say to make each other smile when they were feeling down. Elizabeth felt incredibly safe with Jason and she hoped that he felt the same way about her. He made her feel alive and no one has been able to do that since the night Lucky died in the fire. Jason was the only one who could break down the walls that Elizabeth had build around herself after Lucky's death. The truth was that Jason had found his way into Elizabeth's heart. And now he was just gonna leave town. All because of Sonny and Carly betraying him. All her life, people have been leaving Elizabeth and she was sick of it. How could she let Jason walk out of her life? Jason walked onto the dock. Elizabeth was sitting on the bench deep into her thoughts and she didn't notice that he was there. Jason snuck up behind her and put his hands on her neck. She leaped off the bench and screamed. When she turned around, Jason was standing behind her laughing. E: Jason Morgan! You scared me to death. J: (still laughing) I'm sorry. Seeing you sitting there just made it way too tempting. E: You are awful. J: I know. I try my best. They sit down on the bench and look out at the water for a couple of minutes. E: Did you say goodbye to everyone? J: Yeah. Everyone that mattered anyway. E: When are you leaving? J: First thing in the morning. E: Good. That gives me time. J: Time for what? E: Time to give you the best going away party that you have ever had. J: First of all, I have never had a going away party and second I really am not into parties. E: Oh, come on Jase. J: Elizabeth you know that I don't like people. E: Yeah I know. Okay, What if its just me and you. I can take you to dinner. Or better yet, I can cook you dinner. Or at least try to cook you dinner. J: You don't have to do this Elizabeth. E: I know but i want to. PLEASE J: okay. okay. you win. E: Great! Meet me at your penthouse at 7 and don't show up before that. Promise? J:Promise. E: I need your keys. Jason hands her his keys to the penthouse and Elizabeth leaves with Jason sitting on the docks with a huge smile on his face. Elizabeth arrived at Jason's penthouse and called Emily to come over and help her get everything set up and she called Sonny to come over and help her cook Jason the best dinner he has ever had in his entire life. Sonny rushed right over after hearing Elizabeth's plan to try and keep Jason from leaving Port Charles. Sonny had betrayed Jason when he slept with Carly but she knew that Sonny was still Jason's best friend. Sonny cared about Jason and felt incredibly guilty about betraying him. He knew that Jason cared about Elizabeth very deeply and was happy that Elizabeth felt the same way. Sonny promised to do whatever he could to make Jason stay in Port Charles and he knew that Elizabeth Webber was the only reason Jason would stay. Within two hours, Elizabeth, Emily, and Sonny had transformed Jason's penthouse into a romantic scene from a movie. Sonny made a faboulous pasta dinner and then helped Emily and Elizabeth decorate the room with candles and balloons. After Emily and Sonny wished her luck and left, Elizabeth ran home and put on the most elegant evening gown she owned, an ankle length, hunter green, spaghetti strap number that her father had sent her as a gift for her birthday. She swept her hair back and reapplied some makeup and then returned to Jason's penthouse to wait for him. Jason arrived at the penthouse a few minutes after Elizabeth had returned. Elizabeth was sitting on the sofa looking through a magazine when Jason walked in. J: Hey. E: Hi. J: Whats all this? E: This is your goodbye party. What do you think? Looking around the room, at all the candles and balloons and the beautifully set dinner table, Jason couldn't help but smile. He looks at Elizabeth and smiles. E: I guess that means you like it. J: Yes. I like it. But you really didn't have to go to all the trouble. E: It wasn't any trouble. Sonny and Emily helped. You should have seen Sonny trying to blow up balloons. Jason laughs J: Thank you. E: Don't thank me yet, the evening isn't over yet. Elizabeth gets up off the sofa and walks closer to Jason. This is the first time he sees what she is wearing. His breath is taken away by her beauty. J: You didn't tell me this was a formal affair. Elizabeth looked at Jason who was wearing his normal attair, a pair of jeans, a solid colored t-shirt and his leather jacket. E: What your wearing is fine. J: But look at you. You look absolutely gorgeous. E: Thank you. We should eat. Sonny went to all the trouble of cooking us a wonderful meal and I would hate to see it get cold. Jason holds out his arm and Elizabeth wraps her arm around his and he leads her over to the table. Jason pulls out her chair and once she is seated in it he pushes her in and then takes his own seat. They eat dinner and dessert in mere silence but niether one of them care. They both just feel so comfortable with each other that it doesn't matter if they say anything at all. Both, Jason and Elizabeth, can feel the connection that they have with each other. They both know that what they share is more that just an incredible friendship. It is true and it is real. Neither of them has ever experienced it before. Not with Robin or with Lucky. This feeling was completely different. It was something that neither one of them discussed with the other, the only thing that they never discussed with each other. Their feelings for each other hadn't even become known to them until Jason told Elizabeth that he was leaving Port Charles. Part of Jason had wished that she would try to stop him from leaving but the other part of him knew that she wouldn't. She would let Jason do what he needed to do because that is how she is. She never tries to make you feel of do something you don't want to do or feel like Carly always does. And she didn't want to change him either. She knew what his business was and the risks he had to take for that business and she never tried to get him away from it like Robin always did. Elizabeth was the one person that had accepted Jason for who he was not for who she wanted him to be. And with Jason, Elizabeth didn't have to be perfect or please him. She didn't have to pretend to be someone she wasn't. She could be her true honest self with him. He didn't expect anything from her. She didn't have to be brave or strong. She could laugh, scream or cry and he didn't care. After dinner, Elizabeth started to clear the table but Jason touched her hand so that she would stop. The touch of each other sent shivers up both of their spines. They looked into each others eyes for what seemed like an eternity and Jason finally looked away. J: Leave the dishes. We can do them later. Dance with me. E: Jas, I would love to dance with you but you don't have anything to play music on. J: Who needs music? Elizabeth smiles at him and he holds out his hand for her to take. She takes it and he pulls her to him and holds her in his arms. They sway back and forth to their imaginary music for about an hour. Finally, Elizabeth pulls back and looks into Jason's eyes. Jason's eyes lock with hers. Their faces grow closer and closer towards each other. At last, their lips brush against each others. The kiss is slow and soft at first then escalates into the most passionate kiss either one of them has ever experienced. After a few minutes, Elizabeth pulls back. E: Jason, make love you. J: Are you sure? E: I have never been more sure of anything else in this world except for my feelings for you. I know you feel it too. That kiss proved it. J: Oh I definitely felt it. but i know that you are a , a E: virgin. J: yeah that. E: Jason, I want my first time to be special and romantic and with someone that i deeply care about. And i want it to be with you. J: Are you really sure? E: Yes, i am. Elizabeth leans in and kisses him again. Jason picks her up and carries her upstairs to his bedroom where they make love over and over again until the sun comes up the next morning. They lay in Jason's bed holding each other and remember the events of the night before. E: Jason. J: Yeah? E: I love you. Jason pulls back and looks at her. He studies her for a moment and then realizes that she really does love him and that she wants to be with him. J: I have loved you for so long. I just could never say it because i was afraid you didnt feel the same way or that you would laugh in my face or something. But hearing you tell me that you love me, it makes me so happy. Happier than I have ever been in my life. I love you too Elizabeth Webber. E: Jason, what if you don't go. I mean, I don't want you to go. I want you to stay here with me. I want us to be together, to have a future together. J: Elizabeth, I knew the moment that i walked into his penthouse and saw how much trouble you went to and how amazing you looked tonight that I wasn't going anywhere. I want to be with you too. They kiss and make love again. For the rest of the day they just stay in bed holding each other and loving each other.
