In 1998, an event occurred that would change Elizabeth's life forever. Liz had wanted to go to the Valentines dance with Lucky. He had agreed to meet her there, but his date for the dance was Sarah (who he dropped that night,sick of hearing her go on about Nikolas). Disappointed that she would be just his friend & not his date, she told him she had a date & then skipped the dance altogether & went to the movies. On the way home from the movies, she decided to kill some time by walking through the park. After sitting on the bench for a few minutes, she was grabbed from behind & raped in the park. After Lucky learned that she lied about having a date, he went to look for her & found her in the park after the fact. She went home with Lucky & was examined by Bobbie there before Lucky took her home. Lucky then spent several nights sleeping on Liz's floor to give her comfort (See Lucky & Liz's page for more details). Later in the year, Liz joined Lucky, Nikolas & Emily in trying to find out who was blackmailing Emily with nude pictures of herself (actually, her head on another girl's naked body), threatening to put them on the internet if the blackmailer's demands weren't met. Liz went "undercover" as a receptionist at a modeling agency while Lucky worked in the mailroom and Emily helped get Nikolas a test shoot to be a model. After a long search, it was learned that Emily's photographer Tom was the blackmailer. Tom also confessed to being Liz's rapist (after Liz mistakenly accused her teacher, Mr. Murty of the rape). After being held at gunpoint & locked in a darkroom, Liz & Emily were rescued by Nikolas & Lucky...eventually Tom was arrested & put in prison for blackmail, but not for Liz's rape since there was no physical evidence & he didn't confess it to the police. Although disappointed about this, but knowing that her rapist was in jail for something, Liz was able to start putting her life back together.
