When Elizabeth Webber first met Lucky Spencer, he had a crush on her sister, Sarah...while Elizabeth had a crush on him. At the time, Sarah was involved with Lucky's half-brother, Nikolas. Lucky really only knew Liz as Sarah's troublemaking little sister. As time went on, he & Liz became friends. Things came to a head in February, 1998 when Liz was raped the night of the St. Valentines dance. After finding out that Lucky agreed to go to the dance with her as part of a group of friends, Liz lied to Lucky, telling him that she had a date with one of the school jocks. She instead went to the movies & headed home. On the way home, she cut through the park, where she sat down for a bit to kill time. It was then that she was grabbed from behind, dragged to the bushes & raped. After verifying that Liz lied about her date, Lucky went looking for Liz & found her in the park, crawling out from the bushes. He took her to his home to care for her & called his Aunt Bobbie to help. This was the beginning of a special & very close relationship. Lucky then began spending his nights sleeping on Liz's bedroom floor, looking out for her & providing a sense of comfort & protection for her. It was shortly after Liz's rape that Lucky learned that his father had indeed raped his mother about 20 years earlier, damaging his relationship with his parents & causing him to leave home. After Audrey learned that Lucky was sleeping on Liz's floor, she offered him a room for one more night, then he had to go. He found a place to stay in the boxcar that Jason Morgan used to live in. This boxcar became a special place for Lucky & Liz...they spent a lot of time alone there. Through time, their close friendship grew into love. They also spent the better part of that year trying to find out who raped Liz. First they suspected their teacher, Mr. Murty, but was proven wrong when he had a strong alibi...his boyfriend. They soon also became embroiled in another mystery: who was blackmailing their friend Emily Quartermaine. They teamed up with Emily & an unlikely ally for Lucky...Nikolas Cassadine. Through this adventure, all four teens became close, forming an unbreakable bond. At the end of this adventure, two mysteries were solved: Emily's blackmailer & Liz's rapist. It turned out to be the same person...Emily's photographer, Tom. Once this mystery was solved, Lucky & Liz were ready to get back to their normal lives & ready to continue with their relationship. They agreed to go steady with one another. |
