In 1992, Jason worked as a volunteer, manning the phones on Tom Hardy's teen hotline along with Robin Scorpio & Karen Wexler, helping troubled teens. Jason was in love with Karen, but she was in love with local bad boy, Jagger Cates. Unbeknowst to Jason, Robin Scorpio had a major crush on him. One day, Jason & Karen went on a boat ride, unaware that Jagger had stowed away on the Quartermaine's boat. Shortly after finding Jagger, a storm hit, eventually shipwrecking the three teens. While stuck on the island, Jason, Karen & Jagger encountered escaped convict Joseph Atkins & his brother Cal. The men had tried to rape Karen, but she was saved by Jason & Jagger. During the struggle, Cal was thrown over a cliff.. The three promised to keep the incident to themselves, but ran into trouble when a still alive Cal & Joseph tried to blackmail the three of them. Jason did what he could to get the money (he sold some valuable coins belonging to Edward which landed him in trouble with the Qs), but in the end, Cal was arrested after a shootout & Joseph was eventually arrested when he took Bobbie Jones hostage & tried to rape her.
In 1995, Jason encountered controversy as he became involved with Keesha Ward. The most memorable event being when he took Keesha to play tennis at the country club the Quartermaines frequented & learned that it was a restricted club. Angry over the prejudice, Jason & Keesha left the club. Jason & Keesha later confessed to being virgins to each other & made love for the first time when they visited Paris during spring break.
In 1996, a turning point in the life of Jason Quartermaine...the accident made him become Jason Morgan.
