This website

-- 3/3/02 -- journal entry.
In ancient times, the sound
of the
taiko brought together people from surrounding areas.
With the help of a cell phone, Brian, member of the Jodaiko
taiko club at the University of California, Irvine
(UCI), and his passionate involvement in taiko
brought us from LA County to Orange County to join
faculty, staff, students and their families for A Cultural
Night presentation by the Tomo No Kai club.
Brian had given me
clear instructions to UCI, and without any
difficulty, we
arrived at the Student Center at 2 pm with time to spare. The
performance at the Crystal Cove Auditorium was scheduled to begin at 3
o'clock.
"Crystal Cove. What
a beautiful, yet unlikely name for an auditorium," I
thought, as I looked up at the sign. "Sounds
Tolkienish."
A quick Web search reveals
that the auditorium is named for a
beautiful spot on the Orange County coastline with wooded
canyons, vintage cottages, tidepools, open bluffs, and
offshore waters designated as an underwater park.
