MALAKAI
BIO
Malakai is an inspiration to behold in tantalizing
tatters of a
century that never existed.  His performance
characters dance beyond
the sum of their parts; fashion, make-up, props,
movement, and sound
all combine to create unforgettable, avant-garde
theater.  Influences are culled from high fashion,
revolutionaries and archeological digs.  Ancient
tribal culture  weaves seamlessly with cutting edge
technology in the hands of this multi-media artist.
Currently residing in the San Francisco Bay Area, he
is constantly re-
defining himself and challenging his abilities.
Malakai is a pioneer
in the fire arts movement, integrating androgynous
characters, stilt-dancing, and acrobatics into his dangerous and exotic acts.
The  list  of abilities is impressive; from rappelling out of the sky as a
spider with El Circo, turning into a living carousel
for Trannyshack,
stilt-dancing with fire-wings for Cirque du Soliel and
creating exotic,
tribal fan dances with Apsara.  He is
presently collaborating
with performance artist Faux Pas in the
theatrical/circus/drag
fusion: Datura.  Malakai recently emerged in the
underground and club
scene as an eclectic contemporary DJ.  His style
blends underground
bands with sassy, sexy modern beats. He uses cds,
records, and
computer editing to reveal new sounds and rare finds to delight
audiences across the U.S and abroad.

Malakai adds a powerful visual affect to all of his
performances with
elaborate fashion design and makeup artistry that is like no other.
His style over the past 13 years has inspired many
artists and made a
definitive mark in the underground.  He is
continuously being
commissioned for many custom fashions and is working on his first
clothing line to debut in spring 2008.
Malakai continually reminds us to have unlimited
vision of who we are and what we are capable
of.  His innovative art transcends our time - he is a
familiar memory
of something we've never seen before.
