Cage Lock
Here's an incredibly easy and effective way to make sure your hamster doesn't escape it's cage!

Materials: copper wire- approximately 15 cm long, anywhere
from 1 mm to 2 mm in  diameter

Procedure:

1. Bend the wire in half, leaving about 2 cm between
                                  the two sides.

                              2. Close the cage door.  Holding one end of the wire, thread the
other end through one of the two spaces directly next to where
the cage door latches, from the outside to the inside.

3. Still holding onto the same end of the wire, manouevre the wire so that the other end is thread through the space on the other side of the latch.  Thread it from the inside to the outside.

4. You now have the two ends pointing outward, each one thread through one of the two spaces directly on either side of the latch.  Now, take one end of the wire in each hand and twist the wire twice.  Try opening the door without removing the lock; impossible!

You may have to replace the lock as it gets worn out.
