Pet stores sell a large variety of treats that hamsters enjoy.  However, it is important not to overdo when feeding your hamster these treats, especially those that are high in fat or sugar, as they could lead to a hamster becoming overweight.  Sometimes hamsters would much rather healthy treats such as acorns, or even yoghurt once in a while.

Below is a complete list of food that you can feed your hamster.  Remember that although everything listed is safe for your hamster to eat, some individual hamsters do not enjoy the taste of some of the items.  If you find that your hamster doesn't eat something, try it several times on different occasions before giving up.  Remember also to thoroughly wash fruits, vegetables and greens before feeding, as they may contain traces of pesticides.
