Dan is a firm believer that other artists shouldn't dislike O-Town because of the way they were formed. Dan said "I would never give somebody else crap about how they formed. We respect all the other groups and we just want that same respect from them." He is currently single, but still friends with his ex-girlfriend, Cindy. The group considers Dan the biggest whiner, and that he also spends two days out of the week in front of the mirror. Dan considers his room his "stress-free zone." "I think I'm the fatherly one. I came in last, so, I'm really responsible. I'm always the one who doesn't want to waste time, wants to be on-schedule," said Dan. He misses watching TV and going out in sweatpants. According to Dan, having the cameras on him 24/7 made him less self-conscious. Dan listens to R&B and soul artists, such as Maxwell, Stevie Wonder (he performed a song of his at their concert), Donnell Jones, and D'Angelo. When asked how they respond to critics who call them a "manufactured boy band", Dan says "We are a boy band. What's bad about that? So was the Jackson Five. Good music is good music. It shouldn't be about how many people are in a group." If Dan were forced to be in a beauty pageant, his talent would be scooting around on the razor scooter! Ashley said that if Dan hadn't made it into the band he would "finish college and then he would run for President!" About his favorite animal, Dan said, "I'm going to get kind of deep. I'm kind of like a peacock. In the beginning, I'm not much to look at, but once you get to know, I open up."
