sure, just like the 1960s.  We paid the taxes and the scientists went to the moon.

Not this time.  Innovation takes place throughout the economy and innovative smart business practices are needed to support the technical innovations.

Instead of the rest of us just looking on and watching the Moon Shots, we non-scientists can:

1.  Get involved as mentors in schools (according to Dennis Littky)
2.  Get energized by
working as free agents (according to Dan Pink, and then volunteer in schools to let students know some alternatives)
3. 
Develop our right brains and see the bigger picture (LOHAS and Paul Ray)
4.  Work with Bill Gates to
get smaller schools where Rigor, Relevance and Relationships are developed more thoroughly than in big schools.
5. Continuing education. As mentioned by Dan Pink, we will need to continue training to get up to speed about what is coming next.

Mentors On Video is a program to allow "ordinary humans' (non teachers) to visit middle and high schools on video.  You can go to a "real" school and get videotaped.  Or you can ask for someone to video you.

My production company, McCrea Educational Archives, sells video training for FCAT preparation, SAT preparation, training for teachers and "how to read better".  All of this training is placed on DVDs and CDs and there is often an extra 100 or 150 Megabytes on the CD or DVD.  What to do? 
Put some videos of Mentors on the CD. Free. Your donation of your time will be returned by having your voice and/or image shared with dozens of students.

Students tend to watch a CD if they are told that it is not required.  "Huh, maybe this is the new Pirates of the Caribbean DVD."  Sometimes they are bored, sometimes they are hooked.   The idea of the mentor isn't to appeal to EVERY tudents, but rather to hijack at least one student from the reverie induced by surfing on the Internet or playing with an Xbox game.

So, do you have a book or books inside you and no easy way to get the book out.?

I have discovered two successful channels:

a)   Talk and create a book… talk to a microphone or leave a message on a telephone answering service, then the audio can be transcribed and eventually printed by “printing on demand” (ten books at a time to avoid the cost of warehousing 3,000 self-published books).  Turn around is usually within 6 to 8 weeks for a minimum of 18 minutes of dictation.   Current technology limits the length of individual calls to 5 minutes per call.   If your thought runs past the five-minute limit, just hang up, redial and continue talking.

b)   Talk and create an audio CD … The same audio channel can be converted to a CD, so the detailed work of spelling, formatting pages and checking for typos can be avoided.  Imagine telling your stories to a cell phone number (954 OH-MUCHO or 954 646 8246) and within three days you could have the audio story on your email – ready to mail to schools, friends  and the next generation.   Within a week, the stories can be on a CD, ready for listening in a car.

Cost for the service:  let’s discuss.  Since you would be the third person to use this innovative service, the cost can be bundled into the cost of converting the book into    Your material is related to education, in some way, so there would be a further reduction in the fees if a portion of the material is adapted for use in schools at no charge to the schools.

I am a teacher and a tutor of kids.  I’m always looking for stories, particularly biographies and autobiographies to inspire young people.  Since many kids are good listeners, a book on CD can be converted to a digital format (mp3, em-pee-three) that fits in an iPod or similar player.  Instead of listening to music, kids could have the first two chapters of your book-on-CD in their ears.

The first thought which they did not teach me, is you must convince THEM [the student], THAT NOTHING in what you are teaching them is what is important....
only the logic of the bare knowledge points that you present are bases for:
1. individual want and need to learn
2. logical progression of factual thinking into what might be and its different options -- (not what is correct!)
3.
Beat the system of regurgitation by learning some of the regurgative facts, and SMILE at the bastards and beat them at their own teaching skills, then go teach yourself to others jerry
