I've numbered all lines that are more than two pixels...
Also, when making long lines... make the starting
point of the line... then, holding down your
shift key, make the ending point, and your
line will be perfectly straight.
Remember to SAVE... and OFTEN!
We will be working with layers...
so, you need to have a pretty good working
knowledge of psp. I made this in 7 but 8 is good as well.
Let's get started.
Open a new image of 150 x 150
and your brush size 1, square.
Set your foreground color to #E55D84...
zoom in by 3 and begin drawing the
outline for our sampler.
(don't worry about the tabs on top, we will get to them later.)
Now, click into the outline with your
magic wand and flood fill with #FFF1F2,
leave selected and go up to Effects,
Noise, Add: 10%, Uniform.
Keep selected and make a new layer
and go to Effects, 3d Effects, Cutout...
use these settings:
Vertical: 4
Horizontal: -4
Opacity: 42
Blur: 12.5
Shadow color: #F26A8E
Fill interior with color: unchecked
Make another new layer and using
our cutout again, change just the vertical to -4
and the horizontal to 4.
Deselect, Layers, Merge Visible.
Save it as samplerbk.psp and put away for later.
Now, let's make our heart and our rose.
We will just make the rose first and set aside.
So, open a new image of 50 x 50...
zoom in again by 3... and draw your rose.
*Note: There are no cutouts or noise in this rose because it is so small.
Set foreground color to #F26A8E. And draw the outline.
To color inside it, set foreground color to
#FCC6CA and background color to #FFF1F2.
For the vine color, use #004000
(it's best to make one rose with the
vines and one without for the rose the goes into the heart for later)
*Note: To use your background color without
changing your foreground color, when using
your brush, right click to use the background
color and paint holding it down.
Save the rose as a psp file for later use.
For the Heart, open another canvas 50 x 50 and zoom in by 5.
Set foreground color again to #E55D84
and begin on your outline (we will only make
one side of the outline and then copy, paste
and mirror it to make a full heart)
When your half heart is done, go up to Edit,
copy, and paste as new selection, keep selected,
and go to Image, Mirror, and move it over to
the other side of the heart to create a full heart.
Now, using your magic wand, click into the
complete heart outline and flood fill with
#FCC6CA and then go to Effects, Noise, add, 10%, uniform.
Create New Layer, and go to cutout...
Use the same settings as we did for the
sampler background, but change the shadow color to #E55D84..
then make another layer and repeat, changing the
vertical and horizontal settings to vertical to -4
and the horizontal to 4.
Deselect. And Merge Visible.
Open up your sampler and roses (both the
one with vines and the one without vines) that we made before.
Right click onto the the rose with vines and then click copy.
Then click onto your sampler background and click paste as new layer.
Position it into the top corner. Now, copy and
paste again as a new layer, but mirror it to the other
side and put into position in the corner. Repeat for
the bottom corners so they frame the inside corners of the sampler.
Then, when you are done placing them into the corners...
copy and paste your heart onto your sampler background
as a new layer and position, then, do the same with the rose
without vines onto your heart.
Make sure you have everything on separate layers
because it will make positioning them much better.
Now, merge Layers.
We want leaves on our rose in on our heart...
so using the vine color of #004000, paint some...
to fill in and add a deeper look to them, use #008000.
Ok, words and detailing around the heart are up to you...
but I will show you the design I used. And the numbered
lines for them I put on it in case you want the look I got.
Make a new layer for the detailing (do this first, so it
will all place right on the sampler). Make one half of the
detailing and then mirror (copy, paste and mirror) like we
did before with the heart parts.
Then, make another layer and draw your words.
Merge Visible when done...
Open a new image of 50 x 50... zoom in so you can draw your Tab.
Set Foreground color: #E55D84... background color: #FCC6CA.
Then, duplicate the tab twice to make a total of three copies.
(So, holding down your Shift Key + D, hit twice to make two copies),
now, copy and paste them and space them onto the sampler.
Merge all layers.
For the Rod, make a new Layer, and change your foreground
color to #46281C. When the outline is done, click into it
and flood fill with #753C33. Then create some highlighting
lines with #DBB597.
Go up to Layers, Arrange, and send to bottom so that the
rod is behind the tabs of the Sampler. Position into place.
Merge Layers and save.
